SPRINTS AND LOCAL DIVISIONS RACE AT ALTAMONT MOTORSPORTS PARK THIS SATURDAY

TRACY, California -- A full slate of racing is on tap for race fans at Altamont Motorsports Park this Saturday with all local divisions racing plus Northern California Modified Association Sprint action on Altamont's 1/2-mile oval.

Ed Amador has won both pavement NCMA Sprint races this year with his first win coming at Altamont Motorsports Park on April 7th. Amador came from the rear of the field to take the checkers of the 30 lap event on the April 7th at Altamont Motorsports Park.

In NASCAR Whelen All-American Western Late Model action points leader Ryan Philpott will be looking to get back into victory lane after a Western Late Model win by Brock Monroe last Saturday snapped Philpott's four race winning streak in 2007. Do not count out the #57 of Doff Cooksey who looks like he has what it takes to secure a win this year in the Western Late Model division.

With several tracks not racing this weekend, Altamont Motorsports Park is expecting a full field of serious Western Late Model talent for Saturday's 50-lap lap race on the 1/2-mile oval.

Also taking to the 1/2-mile oval will be the Grand American Modifieds who have seen several strong car counts this season. Tony Noceti and Ryan Mock have proved to have the quickest Modifieds this season but do not count out the #99 of Jim Thompson or the #44 of Jamie Jackson who both had strong showings last Saturday.

In addition, both the Pro-Trucks and the American Limited Stock Cars will visit the 1/4-mile oval at Altamont Motorsports Park on Saturday.

The ALSC division has seen three different winners in four races this season with the #33 of Tim Rappa being the latest victor in a nine car field last Saturday. The ALSC division has put on several great shows this season with car counts reaching as high as 14 racers.

The Pro-Trucks will be making their third appearance at Altamont Motorsports Park this season. Nathan McNeil took the checkers in last Saturday's event, beating out a strong field of nine trucks. Ron Robeck, who won the season opener, is also a contender in the Pro-Truck division.

In addition, fans can look forward to some Formula-4 action on the road course with two 10 lap events scheduled for Saturday. As always, the husband and wife team of Doug and Debbie Foreman will be the one's to watch as the Formula-4's return after a two week hiatus.

Qualifying starts at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday with opening ceremonies scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Combo-Event Ticket pricing is $15 General Admission , $10 for Seniors and $8 for youth.

Altamont Motorsports Park would like to thank the folks at Tri-Valley YMCA for visiting the race facility last Saturday. Altamont Motorsports Park treated all 82 visitors to a day at the races and a grand time was had by all. {Please see attached photo}
