EVERGREEN SPEEDWAY RESULTSBig Track racing is alive and well. After six straight races on the Northwest's third biggest track currently being raced on, (the 3/8's oval at Evergreen) the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Speedway Chevrolet Super Stocks tackled the .646 Mile-oval. Rain delayed qualifying so current points dictated the starting line-up with an 8-car invert. One car failed to qualify, as a field full of the Northwest's best drivers put on a "big track" show. Birthday Boy Chris Preston took an early lead before Roger Habich snatched it away. John Zaretzke started ninth and wrestled the lead from Habich about a third of the way through the 100-lap main event. Several cautions allowed the field to bunch up and the exciting restarts provided plenty of excitement. Eventually Kelly Mann and Jason Fraser finishing second and third consecutively could not muster enough speed to conquer Zaretzke who won his fifth straight main event win. In the Stinger 8 World Championship the field of 30 cars was instantly running into action at the intersection. That action would continue all night as several cars cycled through the lead and attrition at the "X" shortened the field to 22 by the end of the 50 lap main. Coming out on top was Nick Gunderson as he was able to secure the lead at lap and expand that lead as hit the finish line a full half lap ahead of Nick Williams.
