![]() ANTELOPE, California -- NASCAR Grand National Division West Series driver Moses Smith, pilot of the #18 HASA Pool Products/White Flyer Chevrolet Monte Carlo showed the race fans at Infineon Raceway he can make right turns as well as left. The rookie driver from Bill McAnally Racing demonstrated his road course skills by running out front at the Blue Lizard Australian Suncream “200”. Smith ran in the top-ten during final practice which grouped him with the likes of Nextel Cup driver David Gilliland and road course specialists Boris Said and PJ Jones for the qualifying sessions locking in a great starting position for the race. The #18 HASA Chevrolet started the race in the top ten as the field took the green flag. Crew chief Duane Knorr made the call to pit during the first caution at lap seven and again at lap eight to take on fresh tires. The #18 team pit strategy put them back into the top ten by lap 29 of the 64-lap race. Smith took over the lead while the race was under caution at lap 30 as the leaders filed in for their pit stops. "Infineon was bitter sweet,” said Smith. “After testing two weeks ago there, the team and I were feeling very confident about the race. By lap 30 everything had gone as planned and the #18 HASA Pool Products car was leading the race.” Smith maintained his position until overtaken by the eventual race winner Gilliland at lap 36. Smith ran for ten laps solidly in second and focused on regaining the lead. “Unfortunately with ten laps to go we were hit from behind, and high centered on some tires. We would finish 28th, but to run up front with Nextel Cup drivers was a great experience!" The #18 HASA team from BMR would like to thank the over 200 HASA customers that came out to support their team. The team next heads to Roseburg, Oregon for the Bi-Mart Firecracker “150” presented by NAPA AUTO PARTS on Jun 30th at Douglas County Speedway. "We tested the HASA Pool Products car at Roseburg a couple of weeks ago,” continued Smith, “and I am feeling good about what we learned. While we were at the test, a bunch of the local race fans came out to meet and watch us test. They are very enthusiastic and excited for us to be there. I’m excited to put on a good show for them!" The race will be televised live on HDNet and rebroadcast with an enhanced replay on SPEED Channel. Check your local listings.
