Grewohl Strings Two In A Row!

Roseville, Ca.- With the Placer County Fair in full swing, a near capacity crowd was on hand to witness Bobby Grewohl in his Bill McAnally Racing #18 Late Model make it two consecutive wins at The All American Speedway, last Saturday night.

Grewohl started sixth and managed to keep the fenders on his car as the rest of the field mixed it up. “I was just trying to be patient the first half of the fifty” he said after the race.

Grewohl took the lead on Lap 56 but his best lap (13.779/ 87.088mph) came later in the race on lap 76. “Bennie’s car (teammate Bennie Moon) was good at the start and we battled pretty closely for a while. It seemed as the race went on, our car really came to us! I really want to thank Bill McAnally for this opportunity and my sponsors AT&T Yellowpages.com, Berco Redwood, and Trico Welding.”

Moon who led 28 of the 100 laps, credited his teammate “Bobby drove a great race. He raced me cleanly the whole way. His team really has some momentum going right now! Our car was really loose at the end, I was just trying to hang on and get the best finish we could.” he said in a post race interview. That finish saw three BMR cars in the top ten.

In Late Model qualifying, Eric Schmidt of Golden State Racing nailed fast time (13.628/ 88.053mph), Paul Harraka was second (13.710/ 87.526mph), and 2006 Westcar Champ Shannon Mansch was third (13.719/ 87.469mph).

Look for the Late Models when they return next Saturday night, June 30th for The Berco Redwood Late Model Twin 50’s!

In the AT&T Yellowpages.com 75 for the Modifieds…

Jay Williams of AT&T Yellow Pages .com waved the green flag on 75 Laps of Modifed short track action Saturday night at The All American Speedway.

With an invert of ten, Scot Alves of Camino started from the pole and was strong early. Derrick Doering took the lead on Lap 15 and looked tough to beat. Richard Poppert Jr. had one of his best runs of the season. He led just one lap (30) but was a top five car all night.

When the track cleared and the dust settled, Scott Winters, in his Ferrari Farms #24, was your winner. Winters, the definition of patience, said after the race “I’ve got to give credit to my crew! They give me a great car week after week. Thanks to my Crew Chief Ron Ostorero and my sponsors Transmissions by HAL, Just Signs, and Wen Tek. Big thanks to Wayne Ferrari of Ferrari Farms. I could never thank him enough for allowing me to do what I love! And thanks so much to the AAS fans!”

In Modified qualifying, Winters grabbed fast time with a circuit of 13.933/ 86.126mph, Eddie Laws was second at 13.947/ 86.039mph, and Jay Linstroth was third on the speed chart at 13.962/ 85.947mph.

In the six car B-Main, Troy Nogosek brought home the win. Tony D’Allesandro was second, and Chris Curtiss was third. All six cars transferred to the A-Main.

The Modifieds are back this Saturday night June 30th for 50 Laps of Open Wheel Action!

In the Street Stock A-Main…

Chris Lambert was on the pole for the start of the 100 Laps. Ryan Steele again looked good early and battled Lambert for the lead for the first fifteen. Then it was Mickey Owens’ turn to challenge Lambert. They battled door to door for eleven laps when Owens slipped by to lead lap 28. It was short-lived though as Lambert took it right back on lap 29.

Jeff Ahl, starting tenth, worked his way through traffic and after scrapping with the 06 Champ Nitro Norris for 4 Laps, got to second on Lap 31. He took the lead from Lambert on lap 42 and never looked back. Ahl led 58 laps on the way to his first victory of the year.

“This was really a team effort” he said after the race. “We’ve all worked so hard to get here! Thanks to Miller Hot Dogs, Roof Rangers, Tokay Home and Garden, Repco Tow and Visions Signs and Printing.”

Mel Wilson came home second for the second time this year. Mickey Owens drove a great race to bring home third. Doug Wade, who climbed from a starting position of ninth to as high as second, finished fourth. Veteran Dick Meadows crossed the line to finish fifth.

In Street Stock qualifying, Doug Wade had fast time with a turn of 15.045/ 79.760mph, Jeff Ahl (current track record holder/14.999) was second at 15.098/ 79.480mph, and Mel Wilson was third at 15.176/ 79.071mph.

The Street Stocks make their rumbling return to the AAS Saturday night, July 7th!

In Enduro action…

As part of The Placer County Fair, race fans enjoyed racing on Sunday afternoon as well with a 200 Lap Enduro race. Enduro racing is done with Bomber-like cars on a soaked down race track saturated with the soapiest, sudsiest substance available. Drivers are told at the very last second to go 100 laps in one direction. Upon completion, there is a short break and the track is then soaped down once again and the drivers go 100 laps in the other direction.

David Pabst Jr. battled Joe Addison early on in this Battle Royale. Ben Lewis II took the lead on Lap 27 and drove away from the field to win the first 100. Lewis’ car was the only one on the lead lap in the first half.

As the race restarted for the second 100 laps, Lewis II was dominate again. That was until Pabst Jr. got back on the lead lap. The crowd went wild! When trouble struck the #22 of Lewis II on Lap 138, Pabst Jr. was in the right place at the right time to take the lead. With his closest competitor 9 laps back, it was survival of the fittest to the finish line for Pabst Jr. His car completed all 200 laps first to win $1000.00 for an evening’s work.

The next 200 Lap Enduro race at The All American Speedway is scheduled for October 6th. The Enduro race will be followed by a Boat Race.
