ALTAMONT MOTORSPORTS PARK GETS BACK TO LOCAL RACING ON SATURDAY NIGHTTRACY, California -- After a four week hiatus Altamont Motorsports Park returns to local racing for a 200 lap show on USG night where the track just outside of Tracy, Calif is celebrating the Saturday before the 4th of July with the Eldorado Hotel and Casino "Big Bucks Holiday Special"--awarding 1st- through 3rd-place drivers with a mid-week get-a-way to the fabulous Eldorado Reno.

Highlighting Saturday night's action will be the NASCAR Whelen All American Western Late Model's who will hit the "Fastest Half Mile in the West" with a special 100 lap event.

Tracy's Ryan Philpott has a commanding points lead in the division to date but the battle is on for second place with just nine points separating the late models of Danville's Tim Spurgeon and Ken Benhamou.

The #81 of Renie Naeb and the #57 of Doff Cooksey round out the top five in points in the Western Late Model division.

In addition, the American Limited Stock cars will take to the 1/4-mile oval for a 40 lap event while the Grand American Modifieds will hit the half mile for a 40 lapper as well.

The points battle in the ALSC division is tight with just five points separating the first and second place cars of James Dulla and Jim Earl. Tim Rappa looks to gain some points on the front runners as he sits just 17 points back of second place.

In the Grand American Modified division, Tony Noceti will be looking to increase his 47 point lead over the second place car of Jamie Jackson.

The Formula-4's will start and end the evening with 10 lap races on the road course. Less than 30 points separate the top four cars in this division. "Queen Bee" Debbie Foreman is the current points leader followed closely by Leo Solari, husband Doug Foreman and #23 of Richard Hull.

Qualifying starts at 3:20 p.m. on Saturday with opening ceremonies scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Tickets for the event are just $12 General Admission, $9 for Seniors and $7 for youth.
