LEWIS WINS ARCA WEST LATE MODEL CHALLENGE SERIES

KALISPELL, Montana -- The mid-season ARCA West Late Model Challenge Series race at Montana Raceway Park was won by series point leader Gary Lewis (Bothell, WA). Lewis used the advantage of a front row start to lead all 125-laps. Both of Lewis’ wins this season have been flag to flag. Brandon Riehl (Boring, OR) finished second and Jeff Jefferson (Naches, WA) made a late race pass to finish third.

Lewis had company for most the race with Riehl directly behind for 100 laps. As Lewis got into traffic Riehl was unable to stay with Lewis and fell back to finish a distant second. Jefferson’s third came at the expense of Erick Hargraves (Yakima, WA) when on a restart with 6-laps remaining. Hargraves slid up the track just enough for Jefferson to slip under and make it to the podium.

Twenty of the twenty-four starters finished the 125-lap event. The unlucky award goes to Garrett Evans (E. Wenatchee, WA). Running a strong third when on lap 88, a flat right front tire sent him to the pits.
