SWEATMAN WINS HIS THIRD SUPER STOCK 100 AT SOUTH SOUND SPEEDWAYSOUTH SOUND SPEEDWAY

That did not slow down the #11 Tom Sweatman, Cosmopolis, WA, from coming so close to breaking the track record of 13.44. Fast qualifier Sweatman had a lap of 13.478. Sweatman says I would really like to break Nick Behn’s record and each race we keep getting closer. Winning their Trophy Dash was the #99w Willy Thom, Dundee, OR. The #99 Dan Rhodes, Shelton, WA, brought the field around for the green flag and lead the first 30 laps. On lap 31, the #9 Kelly Mann drove past Rhodes with Sweatman following close behind. Mann looked like the man to beat as he pulled away from Sweatman, but on lap 39 Mann headed to the pits with a broken motor. Sweatman inherited the lead on lap 40 and went on to win his third race of the season. Rounding out their top five were runner up Tom Moriarity, Rhodes, Rod Schultz, SR., and Tim Gosch.
The Delta Camshaft Mini Stocks saw the #77 Bill Hansel, Forest Grove, OR, set fast time with a 16.974. Their Trophy Dash winner was the #5 Marc Nelson, Tacoma, WA. The top three in the A Heat were winner Devin Matthews, Michael Hayne, and Reggie Gill. The top three in the B Heat were winner Freeman Pruitt, Jeff Bracale, and Larry Williams.
The #11 Freeman Pruitt, Eatonville, WA, lead the first lap of the Mini Stock Main Event until the #14 Reggie Gill, Tacoma, WA, made a pass on the outside on lap 2. Gill, with heavy pressure from Hansel, on the final laps of the 20-Lap race, went on to win his second Mini Stock Main Event of the season. Rounding out their top five were runner up Hansel, Bracale, Doug Shaffer, and Nelson.
The Lacey Auto Wrecking Bumblebees saw the #57 Ron Anctil, Olympia, WA, win their Trophy Dash. The top three in Heat 1 were winner Jeff Kessler, Tammy Cherry, and Anctil. The top three in Heat 2 were winner Devin Matthews, Jeff Elliott, and Craig Huffman.
The #10 Jeff Elliott, Chehalis, WA, brought the field around for the start of the race, but it was the #83 Roy Talbott leading the first 11 laps until the #29 Kyle Matthews took away the lead on lap 12 and led the next five laps. Anctil took away the lead from K. Matthews on lap 18 and went on to win the Bumblebees 20-Lap Main Event. Rounding out their top five were runner up Huffman, Kessler, Chris Pitcock, and D. Matthews.
The Northwest Baby Grands saw the #43 Steven Roberts, Puyallup, WA, setting a new Track Record with a 14.990. Their Trophy Dash winner was the #12 Cody Stewart, Edgewood, WA. Finishing first, second, and third, respectively in their Heat race were Lash Larew, Roberts, and Stewart.
Stewart brought the field around for the green and led the first five laps until Roberts took the point on lap 6. Roberts went on to win the Baby Grands 25-Lap Main Event. Rounding out their top five were runner up Stewart, Larew, Arlyn Long, and Brooke Lefor.
Racing returns to South Sound Speedway on Saturday, July 14, 2007 with the Big Rigs, Limited Late Models, Northwest Outlaw Street Stocks, and the Pro 4 Trucks.
