Source: LMCS media
Over 25 of the region’s best Late Model teams are expected to shoot for a prime starting position in the ‘TC Transportation 125’. This is the sixth of ten point races on the Late Model Challenge Series’ 2007 touring schedule, and the only visit scheduled this season to Spokane Raceway. The series has completed 76 events at tracks throughout the Northwest since its inception in 2000, but this venue has not been on the schedule in prior seasons. Fresh off a 30-car showing at Montana Raceway Park in Kalispell MT on June 30th; the series again expects a large field of premier teams that are anxious to test there skills on the Northwest’s fastest half-mile. Late Model Challenge Series events are open to each track’s local & regional Late Model teams, usually drawing many local drivers to run against the series regulars. This season, over 50 teams have participated to date with an average showing of 25 cars per event. The series’ rule package helps maintain a level, highly-competitive playing field. In the five races already on the books this season, there have been three different drivers appearing in victory circle. Gary Lewis (Bothell WA) has two wins – WVSO on 5/5 & MRP 6/30. Garrett Evans (E. Wenatchee) also has two victories – Yakima 5/19 & WVSO 6/16. Jeff Jefferson (Yakima, WA) won the Roseburg race on 6/2.
Gary Lewis, last year’s NASCAR NW Elite Series champion, currently leads the LMCS point battle at midseason with only a small margin between second placed Jeff Jefferson. Erick Hargraves (Yakima WA) sits in third and is the series current top Port City Racecars ‘Rookie Challenger’. The remaining top-ten drivers are: Brent Harris (E. Wenatchee WA), Jim Warn (Aurora OR), Garrett Evans (E. Wenatchee WA), Wes Rhodes (Yelm WA), Ryan Fischer (Surrey BC), Todd Walters (E. Wenatchee), and Joe McNeil (Sumner WA).
The LMCS headlines an exciting night featuring several additional classes. In addition to many of the region’s finest Late Model Super Stocks; spectators will also witness competitive racing in the ‘Compact Shootout’ sponsored NORCO Welding Supplies and the local Hobby Stock division.
