STEVEN GANNON GOES TO BREAK DAD'S RECORD AT SRPThe action at Shasta Raceway Park will no doubt be hot and heavy as Round two of the Hot Wood 300 for SRL Late Models hits the fast 3/8's mile paved oval at the fairgrounds in Anderson. Just as exciting as the SRL Late Model 100 lap feature, is the fact the young Steven Gannon from Redding will attempt to break his Dad, Roger's twenty five year old record for main event victories in a row, in the 50 lap Coors Light NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Main Event. Steven will attempt to make it nine main events in a row on Saturday Night, to break the record Roger set in 1983, when he won 18 of 20 main events at Shasta Raceway Park. On breaking his dad's record Steven has mixed emotions, but says the really good point is that it is staying in the family, he will have a big cheering section as his mom Sandy and grandmother Shirley are at the track every time Steven or Eric are racing. Dad Roger and wife Carol are hoping to make it back from Infinion Raceway in time on Saturday to see the main event and if history will be made.

Modesto's Steve Belletto currently sits a top of the SRL point standings with 142 after three races, Belletto will be looking for his first win of the year after posting three top five finishes, second in points, only 5 points back at 137 is former NASCAR Pacific Coast Champion and winner of the second race of the year at Madera Speedway, Dave Byrd form Seaside. Jeff Belletto, Steve's brother holds down third position with 123, followed by Troy Ermish with 109 and long tow driver Mike Mendehall from San Diego rounds out the top five in points with 102.

In the Coors Light NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model division Redding's Steven Gannon leads the point standing with 230 points on the strength of eight wins, ten top five finishes, ten top ten finishes, six fast times and two trophy wins, nothing short of a spectacular season so far for the defending Late Model Champion. Anderson's Bill Lancaster is second in points with 172, will be gunning for his first win of the year, Lancaster has set fast time once this year, with two dash wins 8 top ten finishes and 10 top ten finishes. Third in points with 154 is 2004 and 2005 Late Model Champion Alan Pyszora, Pyszora is just getting back to racing form after being hurt in a motorcycle accident earlier in the year and will be looking to break Gannon's streak at eight wins. In fourth place with 138 points is Eric Gannon, Steven's older brother, Eric has run into the sophomore jinx so far this year as he has been plagued with minor problems that have kept him out of the winners circle so far. Tied for fifth in points at 136 are the Hirschbock brothers Randy and Bobby from Klamath Falls, Oregon, Randy has one feature win so far this year to go with six top fives and nine top ten finishes, Bobby has slowly climbed back to the top five after destroying his car on opening night, which forced him to miss one event. Garth Pedrotti from Weaverville continues to move up in the point standings as he recorded another top five finish at the last event.

In the Legend division Anderson's Derek Copeland leads the points with 384 on the strength of three wins in five races, defending champion Micah Parmer also from Anderson is 30 points back at 354 with one main event win. Rookie drivers JoJo Owens from Redding and Chad Foster from Anderson occupy the third and fourth positions with 265 and 231 points. Carson City's MacKenna Bell is in fifth with 200.
