TRAVIS BENNETT GETS ASA NWT VICTORY IN ROSEBURG
Source: Rebecca Chouinard
![]() Douglas County Speedway was another track that Travis Bennett had never competed on when the ASA Northwest Tour rolled into town, but after picking up his second consecutive series victory, it's a place he would like to return to. The 28 year old of Ellensburg, WA. started out practice not too sure of the place. The car didnt feel right and several changes were made before qualifying. After the last practice, Bennett was finally happy with his car and qualified 2nd behind BJ Tidrick. The 6 car invert would put him on the inside of row 3 for the 100 lap main event. Bennett worked his way through the top 4 and soon after the half way break, took the lead from Mike Obrist. Obrist stayed in close contact, but eventually Bennett was able to pull away to take the checkers for the 2nd consecutive race. "Getting the win this weekend was just awesome. Kelly Tanner told me that after the 1st one, they get easier, and it appears he was right. It was my wife Rachel's birthday and it was fun to win one for her too. I loved racing at Roseburg, it's a great facility and the fans were really into it," said Bennett. As the ASA Northwest Tour heads in to the final 2 races of the season, Bennett sits 5th in points and is looking forward to heading back to Stateline Speedway on August 25th.
"I havent got to race at Stateline yet as we had a family wedding on the rescheduled date, so Im excited to get there and try the place out. Joe Doellefeld puts on a great show and it should be a good night of racing," said Bennett.
