TRACY, California - Stock car fans will not want to miss this Saturday night's action at Altamont Motorsports Park as two of the premier west coast Late Model touring series visit the track for two 100 lap shootouts on the "Fastest Half-Mile in the West." Also on Saturday night's bill is the NASCAR Whelen All-American American Limited Stock Car Series on the 1/4-mile oval and the Formula-4's on the road course. The entire night of racing is sponsored by Mike Marchant's Mid-Valley Iron and Metals.

A 200 lap West Coast Enduro race on the road course is scheduled for Sunday.

Highlighting Saturday night's show will be a 100 lap SRL Wild West Late Model Shootout on the half-mile oval. In four events this year the SRL (Stockcar Racing League) has seen four different winners with rookie driver Bryan Herzon taking the latest win on July 28th at Shasta Raceway Park in Anderson, Calif.

Altamont Motorsports Park's 2006 Western Late Model champion, Dave Byrd, currently leads the SRL Wild West Late Model point standings, followed by Steve Belletto, just six points back. Jeff Belletto, Bryan Herzog and Todd Bammer round out the top five in SRL point standings coming into Saturday night's event at Altamont Motorsports Park.

A driver Altamont Motorsport Park fans are sure to be pulling for is Tracy, Calif's own Rick Ruzbarsky who is making his way up the points standing with strong showings in each of the three SRL races he has participated in. And young Brennan Newberry of Bakersfield, Calif will try to improve upon his first top five finish at Shasta to continue showing strong progress in his rookie year as part of the SRL.

"The SRL drivers and the whole SRL team are excited about coming back to Altamont where we expect our fastest racing of the year," said Steve Fensler, executive series director for the SRL. "We look forward to showcasing some of the most talented late model drivers in the Western U.S. on one of the most exciting tracks in the region!"

Not to be outdone, the Eldorado Hotel Casino Westcar Series will also compete in a 100 lap event on the half-mile oval.

Altamont Motorsports Park's current NASCAR Whelen All-American Western Late Model points leader, Ryan Philpott, put on quite a show when the Westcar Series visited the track on June 2nd - winning both the Western Late Model race and the Westcar Series event that evening. The race was Philpott's only Westcar series start in 2007.

Leading in points coming into Saturday night's Westcar event is Jarred Beddow of Roseville, Calif. Beddow has no Westcar wins in 2007 but has finished in the top five in all five Eldorado Hotel Casino Westcar Series races this season.

In American Limited Stock Car action on the 1/4-mile oval Chad Holman will be looking for his fourth win in the last five races. Holman won a wreck-fest on July 21st with 15 cars packing the track that Saturday night.

James Dulla currently leads the American Limited Stock Car series point standings with Jim Earl just seven points back in second place.

The Formula-4's will bookend the evening with two ten lap races on the road course.

On Sunday, the popular West Coast Enduro's will hit the road course for a 200 lap event. The price is just $100 for a car and driver to enter the event.

The Grandstands open at 2pm on Saturday with qualifying at 3:15 p.m. and the opening ceremonies scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Ticket pricing is $25 General Admission , $20 for Seniors and $15 for youth.

For Sunday's Enduro race grandstands open at 1pm with racing starting at 2pm. General admission is just $12.

Altamont Motorsports Park is located between Livermore and Tracy, Calif., within an hour's drive from most points in the San Francisco Bay Area as well as the Central Valley.
