HARGRAVES, ROSE AND ST. MARY WINNERS AT YAKIMAEllensburg, Washington Erick Hargraves took home the top honors, in the ASA Late Model division, over an impressive 18 car field, Saturday night at Yakima Speedway. Young Owen Riddle finished a strong second with Chad Bennett, with a crate motor, was scored third after a last lap incident involving the car cars of Rick Suran, and Scott Walker. Walker finished fourth with Marysville resident Dan Beecher rounding out the top five.

B.J. Tidrrick set fast time but was sidelined early with suspension problems. Defending champion, Christopher Kalsch, broke a rear axle on the original start, ending his night. Riddle, with his strong finish will add to his point lead in his quest for the championship.

John Rose, has only competed a select number of races this year, but made his return a successful one Saturday night. Rose used his outside front row starting position to take over the point on lap one. Brian Pepper, going for four wins in a row, moved through the very competitive field, claiming the second position by the half way mark. Rose drove a steady race to hold on for the remainder of the 30 lap event.

The exciting Hobby Stock, 30 lap main was won by Ben St. Mary of Moxee, Washington. The entire 19 car field, all qualified within just over a second off of fast time of 23.530 sec. Set by John Raney. Marcus Maggard hounded St. Mary for the entire event and had the big crowd on their feet, but had to settle for second. Chris Van Amburg was a strong third with Randy Marshall Jr, coming from the rear of the field, in fourth and John Raney in fifth.

Points leader, Tyson Richter, added to his total with yet another win in the Bump to Pass. Jessie Eaton came out the victor in the popular Hornet division.

Next race at the historic ½ mile facility will be august 18. All five classes will be featured. Yakima Speedway official announced today the return of the highly successful 5 for 5 by 5 promotion. Five classes of cars, for only five dollars for all ages, for fans coming into the speedway by 5:00.
