MANN WINS MILLER 200SOUTH SOUND SPEEDWAY

The #91 Jason Hedrick and the #6 Wes Rhodes brought the field around for the start. Rhodes jumped out to an early lead with Hedrick in tow. Rhodes looked like the car to beat by leading the first 42 laps. With a move to the inside of Rhodes, Hedrick would take the lead on lap 43. A few laps later, Wes Rhodes would head to the pits with a left rear flat. Hedrick would lead up to the halfway break. At the break, all cars were allowed to have four new tires, fuel and any adjustments they could make during the 10-minute break. When the green flag waved on lap 101 for the restart, Hedrick picked up right where he left off leading until lap 163 when Monroe, Washington’s #9 Kelly Mann made the pass for the lead. The “IceMann” went on to win his first Miller 200 in only his second try. In 2006, Mann finished second. Rounding out their top five were runner up Brandon Reihl, Tom Moriarity, Rod Schultz, JR., and Mike Obrist. The Delta Camshaft Mini Stocks saw Tacoma, Washington’s #14 Reggie Gill set fast time with a 16.798. The top three in the A Heat were winner Bill Hansel, Richard Smith, and Gill. The top three in the B Heat were winner Craig Huffman, Freeman Pruitt, and Tabatha Bracale. The #57 Jerry LaPlante lead the first lap of the Mini Stock Main Event until the #11 Pruitt took over the lead on lap 2. Pruitt would lead until Gill passed him on lap 18. Gill would go on to win the 25-Lap race, making this his third Mini Stock Main Event win of the season. Rounding out their top five were runner up Dennis Shaffer, Hansel, Pruitt, and Smith. The Northwest Baby Grands saw Lacey, Washington’s Arlyn Long set a new Track Record with a 14.847. Finishing first, second, and third respectively in their Heat race were Lash Larew, Steven Roberts, and Long. The #12 Cody Stewart brought the field around for the start of the race and lead the first seven laps. On lap eight, #39 Larew took over the lead and led the next ten laps. On lap 19, Puyallup, Washington’s #43 Roberts would take over the lead and go on to win the 25-Lap Baby Grand Main Event. Rounding out their top five were runner up Larew, Stewart, Brooke Lefor, and Long. The Washington Midget Racing Association was at South Sound Speedway for their fifth scheduled race of the season and saw Edmonds, Washington’s Brad Curtis setting fast time with a 13.028. The top three in their A-Heat were winner #8 Spence Gatrell, Tony Seidelman, and Brea Lopez. The top three in their B-Heat were winner #50 Evan Margeson, Curtis, and Ken Ferris. The #98 Chris Peters brought the field around for the green flag, but it was the #44 Seidelman that led the first lap. Seidelman would lead until Gatrell would take over on lap eight and go on to win the WMRA’s 35-Lap Main Event. Rounding out their top five were Lopez, Dallas Melby, Ferris, and Margeson. Racing returns to South Sound Speedway on Saturday, August 18, 2007 with the Limited Late Models, Vintage Modifieds, Pure Stocks, Mini Cup Future Stars and Open Division, and Bumblebees. Back gate opens at 1:00 PM; front gate opens at 4:45 PM with qualifying starting at 5:00 PM, and racing at 6:30 PM. Race Results -- 08/11/2007
