THE STOCKCAR RACING LEAGUE GOES MILE HIGH WITH FIRST EVER VISIT TO COLORADO NATIONAL SPEEDWAY

WILTON, California -- The StockCar Racing League will make their first ever visit to Colorado National Speedway this Saturday (August 18th) with a 150 lap main event at the mile high three-eights mile oval. This is the first ever trip to Colorado for the SRL Touring Series who will be taking a strong contingent of the top SRL drivers to race alongside their exception local late model racing talent.

The SRL teams are anticipating a great event and can’t wait to take on the challenges of the speedway in front of a large enthusiastic crowd of Colorado race fans. "The track’s racing groove moves around making for an exciting race,” stated Darrell LaMoure who drives the ‘Race for the Missing’ number 94 car out of Phoenix, AZ. LaMoure continued, “What I enjoy the most is the interaction with the fans and the Rockies!" The Mendenhall race team is equally looking forward to the trip to Colorado and their large and loud fan base. “Colorado always has a huge crowd in the grandstands. The noise they make is unreal and can be a shock for those who haven’t experienced it!” said Mike Mendehall, driver of the Alfred Matthews Racing number 10 car.

“The SRL is very excited about getting the opportunity to showcase our skills as we race with some of the talented late model drivers from Colorado National.” said Steve Fensler, executive series director for the SRL. “We can’t wait to help put on a great show for the large fan base that makes this track one of the most fun shorts tracks to race on!”

The SRL points race is now even tighter with last weeks results from Altamont Raceway. Veteran Dave Byrd, with his 4th place finish, continues to hold on to the points lead with the Belletto brothers (Steve and Jeff) following close behind in 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Tracy Bolin and Greg Voigt round out the top 5 sitting just ahead of rookie of the year points leader Todd Bammer.

About the Stockcar Racing League (SRL):

The SRL is one of the premier stock car racing series in the country. The series has patterned itself after NASCAR with beautifully prepared cars and support vehicles, and identifiable team uniforms. This seventh season looks to break all attendance records, attracting over 70 seasoned drivers from all over California and the southwestern states. Local and regional stock car fans can also cheer for new stars that will someday drive the machines of NASCAR. The series is a training ground, not only for drivers but for mechanics, chief mechanics and engineers. This series is great for fans who love live action on a hot weekend.
