ASA NORTHWEST TOUR SET TO RETURN TO STATELINE SPEEDWAYYAKIMA, Washington -- Many of the Superstars of the Northwest’s best touring stock car racers are anxiously anticipating the return to Idaho’s Stateline Speedway, on Saturday night August 25. Earlier in the season the ASA Aero Exhaust Northwest Tour made a stop at the banked high speed .250-mile oval located in Post falls, Idaho. Everyone involved with the return of the Tour after a 20-year absence were pleasantly pleased with the track and the cordial staff.

With the Weather Service forecasting clear skies and mid 80 degree temperatures a good field of drivers and teams are expected. A strong local contingent of drivers will join the touring regulars for the Access Road Solutions 150. Included with the regulars is the hottest driver on the circuit, Travis Bennett of Ellensburg, WA winning the last two races. Winless in his previous 4-years on the Tour, Bennett is doing what many expected to happen earlier in his strong NW Tour career.

An extremely tight point’s battle is wagering for the 2007 ASA Northwest Tour Championship. BJ Tidrick of Yakima, WA has a 1-point lead on two-time NW Tour Champion Kelly Tanner of Auburn, WA. Third in the standings Jay Sauls of Puyallup, WA is just 12-points back of Tidrick.

The ASA NWT is coming off a mid-summer break with nearly a full month off. The drivers and cars are refreshed and ready for the final two races of 2007 starting at Stateline Speedway on the 25th and finishing at Yakima Speedway on Labor Day weekend.

Some of the other drivers committed include winner of the first stop at Stateline Brandon Riehl. Jeff Ford and Mike Longton will make their Stateline Tour debuts. Representing the locals will be Tour regulars Matt Hall, Kevin Moland. Kevin Richards, Tony Berry, Dan and Dave Garber make the local contingent a very potent group. More are expected to commit as the 150-lap feature draws near.

Along with ASA NWT on Saturday the traveling Northwest Legends Series rolls into town. The two day extravaganza gets underway on Friday night August 24 with the INSSA Late Model Series, Early Stocks and Late Model 4’s Series. Each night starts at 6:00pm.
