18 year-old Jace “the Ace” Meier from Las Vegas, NV earned his sixth Top-5 finish of the 2007 season to move into a tie for first in the Auto Club Late Model point standings Saturday night at Irwindale Speedway. Meier, who drives the #55 High Point Racing entry began the race from inside the third row and managed to hold off a late challenge from the #28 car to finish fifth in the tight 27-car field.

“This has been quite a week for me” explained Meier after the race. “I’ve spent all week in North Carolina preparing to start college at Belmont Abbey and now tonight we were able to move into a tie for the points lead in such a competitive field and at such an amazing track. It doesn’t get much better than this.” The newly transplanted North Carolina resident also continued to open up his lead in the Rookie of the Year standings where he now holds a 112-point lead over High Point Racing teammate, Scott Jenkins.

Meier will be flying back-and-forth between Charlotte and the west coast to continue racing at the famed Irwindale Speedway. The next race for the Auto Club Late Models is on Saturday, September 1st.

Meier is an 18 year old Las Vegas native, currently racing for Tim Huddleston's High Point Racing team. Meier recently graduated from Spring Valley High School with a 4.414 GPA where he was the President of his Senior Class, President of Spring Valley's DECA chapter, and a recognized Peer Mentor. He is currently attending Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina on a full academic scholarship as part of the Honors Institute.
