EATON MASTER OF ROCKY MOUNTAIN RACEWAY
ROCKY MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE SERIES
Source: RMCS Media Realtions/DS
The victory was Eaton sixth career triumph and fourth at RMR. The victory moved Eaton up to eighth in the standings after suffering a fall in the standings after two disappointing finishes in the last two events. “It is always great to win here at RMR, especially in the NAPA sponsored race,” Eaton said. “We had to put a new motor in the car after losing one at Magic Valley and this win feels good. Winning is everything in this sport but it takes a great team and we have the best.” Although disappointed with second, by virtue of the finish David Minegar reassumes the top spot in the standings. “We had a good car but Jim was real good at the end,” Minegar said. “I really wanted to win the race but sometimes it’s just not your night.” John Newhouse has been focused on the series championship since the last checkered flag of last season and even with a strong third place performance tonight he lost ground to Minegar in the championship. “I lost something in the motor about lap 50 and I was just hanging on,” Newhouse said. “It is all going to go down to the last race and that is the way it should be. I can’t wait.” CarbonX rookie competitors Matt Faulkner and Brad Ostler had their best finishes of the season finishing ninth and tenth respectively. Faulkner leads the rookie standings by three points heading into the final event. David Minegar notched his 13th career Sharp Powder Coating Fast Time Award to lead all 22 qualifiers. Minegar would start the race from the 17th position after engine woes sidelined four drivers before the start of the 125 feature. Minegar leads the point standings heading into the final race of the season Saturday, September 8 at Magic Valley Speedway in Twin Falls, Idaho in the annual running of the NAPA “150”.
