AW LMCS ‘SEA GALLEY 125’ AT YAKIMA THIS LABOR DAY WEEKENDGRAHAN, Washington -- Current points leader Gary Lewis of Bothell, WA has had a dream season, with four wins already in 8 completed events of the 2007 ARCA West Q-Racing Late Model Challenge Series in addition to victories at the Montana 200, Idaho 200, and one NW Tour race. He definitely is on a roll, but not without stiff competition, and this weekend he will certainly have his hands full with many talented drivers also shooting for the $2,500.00 Gary Mears Trucking ‘Winner’s Check’ in the AW LMCS ‘Sea Galley 125’ at Yakima Speedway this Saturday night.

A large field of the region’s best Late Model teams are again expected to assemble at the historic ½ -mile oval of Yakima Speedway for the series’ second appearance of 2007, and each will be competing for a piece of over $17,500.00 in cash and bonus awards offered. In the first AW LMCS outing at Yakima back in May, Garrett Evans of Wenatchee WA picked up his first of three wins to date this season with Erick Hargraves, Yakima WA and Wes Rhodes, Yelm WA placing second and third respectively. Both Hargraves, Rhodes and several additional drivers including Brent Harris have had many strong runs this season, and are looking to grab their first checkered flag of the season. So far, the checker flag has only been shared by Lewis (4 wins), Evans (3 wins), and Jeff Jefferson (1 win). Port City Racecars ‘Rookie Challengers’ Jim Warn and Erick Hargraves are in a tight battle for Rookie-of-the-Year honors.

The expected driver roster includes well known local-area talent as Ron Bemis, Scott Walker, Mike Zamora, Lon Werremeyer and Brad Rhoads. Series top point standing drivers (in order) Gary Lewis, Jeff Jefferson, Wes Rhodes, Erick Hargraves, Brent Harris, Jim Warn, Garrett Evans, Ryan Fischer and Joe McNeil are all shooting for a prime qualifying spot. Series regulars such as Shelby Thompson, Christian Roeder, Mike Obrist, Jason Hedrick, Scott Davis, Don Vickery, Josh Roberts, Rick Hager, Mike Kenyon, and Marty Wason all know they have their work cut out this weekend. Also attempting are Pete Harding, Jason Fraser, Mark Sundberg, Rob Angus, Jarrod Crum, Don Cralle, and Willy Thom; whom all must qualify well to get locked into the 28-car feature, or face a tough challenge in a consolation race battling over just 4 move-up positions. All-in-all, this event is primed to be one of the best Late Model races in the region this year, in addition to being one of the biggest fielding of cars for the AW LMCS.

The ARCA West Q-Racing Late Model Challenge Series ‘Sea Galley 125’ event headlines an exciting Labor Day weekend of racing also featuring Yakima Speedway’s own local Super Stocks, Hobby Stocks and the ASA NW Tour. Saturday schedule: Hot lap sessions begin at 2:00pm, qualifying for all classes begin at 5:00pm, Racing begins at approx. 6:30pm. Large crowds are expected, arrive early for best seating and time trials. Front Gate opens at 4:00pm.####
