SPOKANE, Washington -- The Limited Late Model Racing Series returned to Spokane Raceway Park for race 6 of the inaugural season.

12 teams were in attendance for this event providing plenty of on track excitement for the relatively small crowd on hand. Things were looking bad for a couple of LLMRS regulars as “Terrible” Tim McDougald lost his transmission during practice and championship contender Chris Schlaht lost his engine moments later. Moments after that Bob Hays, another championship contender, lost his engine during the practice session as well. In the spirit of what has become a tight knit group of guys, Bob Hays offered up his transmission from his car to the #68 HayWire Motorsports team and driver “Terrible” Tim McDougald while Gene Lynch handed over his car to Chris Schlaht for him to continue his assault on this inaugural championship battle.

Fast time was set by the #19 of Marc Oergel, who was not racing for points in an effort to help car count while driving a car that did not fully meet the LLMRS rules.

The Trophy Dash saw “Terrible” Tim McDougald take the lead from the outside of the front row and never look back, holding off a hard charging John Boyatt for the last two laps to bring home the win.

The real excitement came in the heat race where the #20 of Brad Stanwood spun in turn 2 contacting the #68 of “Terrible” Tim McDougald who was able to continue on. At the same time, the #7 of Jim Jusilla would contact the #00 of Brandon Penney sending Penney hard into the wall, ending his night. The restart found Stanwood relined in front of McDougald, and after taking the green flag the two again made contact ending with the #20 car of Stanwood hard in the wall ending his night as well. McDougald was able to continue on. The race would eventually be won by the #19 of Marc Oergel in front of championship leader John Boyatt with “Terrible” Tim McDougald in 3rd.

The main event saw championship contender Chris Schlaht in a borrowed car starting on the pole and quickly being overtaken by the field. In a race that ran flag to flag, the #19 of Marc Oergel easily took the win followed again by the #10 of championship leader John Boyatt. The real race was provided by the two cars battling for the 3rd spot. Jim Jusilla held the spot, but with 10 laps to go “Terrible” Tim McDougald would mount a late race charge. After trying the pass on the high side for those 10 laps, McDougald would finally make the move work as they came to the checkered flag edging out Jusilla for the 3rd spot by a nose. Jusilla would have to settle for 4th & Rusty Webb would round out the top 5.

The next event is scheduled for September 15th at Port Angeles Speedway. This will be the final race for the inaugural season of the Limited Late Model Racing Series. With the championship still mathematically up for grabs between 3 different drivers and several other points positions to be determined, be sure to catch this final showdown!####
