Race Re-Cap 8/25/07 by Chase Montgomery, track announcer. Schmidt Returns To Winning Ways!

Roseville, Ca.- Golden State Racing’s Eric Schmidt won the Riebes Auto Parts 75 for the Late Models Saturday night, August 25th at The All American Speedway.

In qualifying, Gary Glenn, fresh off his first victory two weeks ago, topped the speed charts with a fast time of 13.742/ 87.323mph. Paulie Harraka was second (13.756/ 87.234mph) with Benny Moon third (13.813/ 86.874mph) and Bobby Grewohl fourth (13.825/ 86.798mph).

In the four lap trophy dash, Grewohl out-dueled BMR teammates Harraka (2nd) and Moon (3rd) with Glenn fourth.

In the A Main, Glenn pulled the invert that put Schmidt on the pole. Seventeen year old Jonathon Hale started second with Grewohl and Moon third and fourth. Grewohl got to second on lap three. Harraka moved to third on lap four. From there the race was on. Schmidt was smooth as Grewohl and Harraka battled it out door-to-door as laps clicked off. Then, in a strange turn of events, the two teammates collided on the back stretch and went head-on into the wall on lap fifty-seven taking both contenders out of the race.

Glenn restarted second and was strong but neither cautions nor restarts could stop Schmidt on this night. He led all seventy-five laps on his way to victory. The win gives him eight in his pursuit of the championship. Glenn’s run was good enough for a second place finish. Jason Romero crossed the stripe third. Moon was fourth and Jessica Helberg was fifth.

Rounding out the top ten:

6th Jonathon Hale 7th Juan Pitta 8th Craig Swim 9th Jake Holland 10th Harold Long
