ARCA WEST LATE MODEL CHALLENGE SERIES

![]() BOTHELL, Washington -ARCA West Late Model Challenge Series points leader, Gary Lewis, will be focused on returning the ARP Bodies Chevrolet to victory lane at Yakima Speedway this Saturday night. The following day will be another opportunity to visit the historic facilities winner’s circle as the team will participate in the ASA Northwest Tour season championship event. This will mark Lewis’ second appearance on the former NASCAR Northwest Series circuit, and second straight in Yakima. With a series leading four victories and eight top-5 finishes the team’s primary focus will be their ARCA West commitment, according to Lewis. “I think we’ll be in good shape for both races. Both cars do drive different but I have so many laps in the Tour car that it makes it easier to focus on our Eibach Springs ARCA car. “Our biggest challenge this weekend will be changing out the seat from one car to the other. We’ll have to go in on Sunday morning and take care of that but we should be ready. The great thing our team has going into this weekend is that both of our cars are in great shape so we should have as good a chance as anyone to pick up a win.” Winning races and running up front has been the theme of the season for Lewis and his Sign Factory USA pit crew. Labor Day’s two-race challenge will be no different. “We’re going to stay focused on our original plan for 2007 as we always do heading into a race weekend no matter how many we’re running,” Lewis explained. “We race to win without making some bad decisions. If you do that then everything should come into place (for the ARCA championship points) and you hope nothing else happens (while running in the ASA event).” With only two events left in the 2007 ARCA West season Lewis and his team have plenty left to learn about their competition and their Leary’s Shock Shop Monte Carlo. “Our team works hard on the cars during the week after our real jobs are over then we head off to the track and try to learn as much as we can each lap to make our car better. If you really focus on the changes you make to the race car and how it makes the car feel you’ll learn a lot of information and it seems that our approach has been paying off for us these last two years.” Lewis is not prepared to end his 2007 run at Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval on September 15, he added. “We’re not sure exactly sure what we’re planning on doing after the ARCA West season is over. We’ve been talking about running the late model race in Irwindale during the Shootout weekend but their rules package is way different than what we have under our cars that it won’t happen this year. Our team has also talked about running the Las Vegas Bullring’s Fall Classic later in the fall and we’re looking into racing Yakima Speedway’s Fall Classic in October. “I do know we’re not ready to stop running after the roll we’ve been on this season.”
