The second night of racing at South Sound Speedway started Sunday night’s September 2, 2007 with another full night of racing. The Quality Car Care Limited Late Models saw current point leader, Centralia, Washington’s #98 JJ Hamilton set fast time with a 13.981 and go on to win their Trophy Dash.

The #43 Ron Wolf brought the field around for the start and jumped into the early lead, leading until lap 30. That’s when young 20 year old, Tacoma, Washington’s #28 Billy “The Kid” Weber took over the lead and went on to win his very first Limited Late Model 50-Lap Main Event at South Sound Speedway, the West Coast’s fastest 3/8’s mile paved oval.

Weber feels that his Dad, Jerry Weber’s hard work and the help from his crews is what made this win possible. Rounding out their top five were runner up Kenny Makowichuk, Craig Pfander, Bobby Moore, and Kyle Markstrom.

The Hinkle Homes Pure Stocks saw Olympia, Washington’s #10 Jacob Haider set fast time with a 16.757. The top three in their A Heat were winner Scott Johnson, Ron Mason, and Jay Henderson. The top three in their B Heat were winner Dan Walker, Rick Casebolt, and Haider.

The #54 Henderson brought the field around for the green flag, but Longview, Washington’s #24 Walker was leading the field when they crossed the line for the first lap. Walker would continue to lead until the checkered flag flew on lap 25. Rounding out their top five were runner up Haider, Casebolt, Shannon Chase, and Brian Wilson.

The AMRS Mini Cup Future Stars saw Puyallup, Washington’s #12 Kayla Roberts set fast time with a 17.571. The top three in their Heat race were winner, Tyler Shipman, Tyler Knittle, and Andy Benefield.

Leading the field to the green flag was the #66 Benefield. He would lead the first six laps. Puyallup, Washington’s #15 Shipman would come out the winner of the Mini Cup Future Star 15-Lap Main Event. Rounding out the field was runner up Roberts, Benefield, Knittle, Nik Larson, and Dustin Torrey.

The AMRS Mini Cup Open Division saw Puyallup, Washington’s #11 Aaron Stanley set fast time with a 16.460. The top three in their Heat race were winner, Buddy Benefield, Dave Torrey, and Justin Rogers.

The #18, Rogers would bring the field around for the start of their race. He would continue to lead until Stanley took over on lap three. Stanley would go on to win the Mini Cup Open Division 15-Lap Main Event. Rounding out their field was runner up Benefield, Rogers, Torrey, and Dan Larson.

The Northwest Baby Grands saw Edgewood, Washington’s #12 Cody Stewart set fast time with a 14.974. The top three in their Heat race were winner, Lash Larew, Stewart, and Brooke Lefor.

The #9 Steven Daskam would bring the field across the line for the green flag, but it was the #1 Arlyn Long that would lead the first 10 laps. Stewart, wanting to prove why he had set fast time took the lead on lap 11 and went on to win the Baby Grands 25-Lap Main Event. Rounding out their field was runner up Larew, Long, Lefor, Daskam, and Brandon Barlow.

The Top Notch Trailer Street Stocks saw Olympia, Washington’s #12 Bobby Micielli set fast time with a 15.466. The winner of their Trophy Dash was #15 Shawn Aubrey. The top three in their Heat race were winner, Aubrey, Cody Erskine, and Micielli.

The #15 Aubrey would bring the field around for the drop of the green flag and continue to lead until lap 12 when Bobby Micielli would take over. Micielli would then go on to win the Street Stock 15-Lap Main Event. Rounding out their field was runner up Aubrey, Erskine, Jay Hopkins, and Tony Barlotti.

South Sound Speedway is honoring all of the hard work that our Military does by having a Military Appreciation night on Saturday, September 22, 2007. All active Military, IN UNIFORM, with Military ID, will be welcomed at the front gate, free of charge. Their families will receive the regular Military discount when they present their Military ID. Racing returns to South Sound Speedway on Saturday, September 8, 2007 with the Sprint Cars, NW Outlaw Street Stocks, Super 4’s and Mini Stocks. Back gate opens at 1:00 PM; front gate opens at 4:45 PM with qualifying starting at 5:00 PM, and racing at 6:30 PM.
