LMCS CONTINUES ‘WENATCHEE 200’ TRADITION

GRAHAM, Washington – Race teams from throughout the Northwest region are poised to do battle in the ARCA West Q-Racing Late Model Challenge Series ‘Wenatchee 200’ event scheduled this Saturday at Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval. Teams are busy doing final preparation for the 200-lap championship Late Model race with hopes of bringing home a big piece of the series’ largest single-event payout of over $20,000.00 in cash and bonus awards offered, highlighted by a $3,000.00 ‘Winner’s Check’ presented by International Parking Management, Inc. of Seattle, WA. For nine years the ‘Wenatchee 200’ has been one of the region’s traditional season-end highlights, and is a fitting place for the final AW LMCS event of 2007.

Fresh off a 29-car showing at Yakima Speedway WA on September 1st, the series again expects a large fielding of premier teams that are anxious to show there talent on the tight ¼-mile track for a grueling 200-lap race. They will all be shooting for a big portion of the record purse, which includes IPMs $3,000.00 ‘Winner’s Check’ and the increased purse structure offered by WVSO. Together with the series’ many bonus and contingency awards the top finisher will walk away with nearly $4,000.00 in posted winnings. Just qualifying into the 24-car feature guarantees a minimum $400.00 payout.

In addition to competing for the increased purse money offered, the AW Late Model Challenge Series’ top contenders are chasing valuable points toward the series’ season championship. Entering this event, the current top five are: Gary Lewis of Bothell WA, Jeff Jefferson of Yakima WA, Brent Harris of Wenatchee WA, Erick Hargraves of Yakima WA, and Garrett Evans of E. Wenatchee, WA. Mathematically, by just starting the feature Lewis and Jefferson will lock themselves into first and second place overall in season points standings respectively but both will definitely be competing intensely for the final victory of 2007. The true points battle is from 3rd-5th with just 13 points separating Harris, Hargraves, and Evans. Also in striking distance to shake up the final top ten standings are Wes Rhoads of Yelm WA, Jim Warn of Aurora OR, and Ryan Fischer of Surrey BC. Remaining to be determined is the top Port City Racecars ‘Rookie Challenger’ with only a small margin separating Hargraves and Warn.

In the first AW LMCS outing at WVSO back in May, Lewis grabbed his first victory of the season followed by Jefferson and Jason Hedrick. The series’ second visit in late June witnessed Evans grabbing the checkers with Christian Roeder and Lewis in close pursuit. So far, the checker flag has only been shared by Lewis (4 wins), Evans (4 wins), and Jeff Jefferson (1 win). Hargraves, Rhodes and several additional drivers including Harris, Roeder, and Shelby Thompson have had many strong runs, and are looking to grab the final checkered flag of the season.

WVSO’s ‘Wenatchee 200’ race schedule: Saturday, Sept. 15th - Hot laps start at 2pm with qualifying for all classes to begin at 6pm. Racing at 7pm. Front Gate opens at 5pm. Ticket prices: $20.00 adult, $15.00 student, $5.00 kids, 5yo & under free. Additional classes include the Pepsi Cola Mini Super Stocks and the WVSO Youth Hornets.####
