GLENN, SCHMIDT WIN TWIN 50’SALL AMERICAN SPEEDWAY

Earlier in the day in qualifying, BMR’s Bennie Moon (#10) grabbed fast time with a lap of 13.545/ 88.593mph. Schmidt was second fast at 13.559/ 88.501mph, Ross Strimska (#90) was third at 13.583/ 88.345mph and Paul Harraka (#16) was fourth at 13.622/ 88.092mph. Harraka won the four car/ four lap trophy dash over Schmidt, Stramiska and Moon. In Race One of the Twin 50’s, Glenn started from the pole with the invert and led all fifty laps in this feature. The win is Glenn’s second on the season. Visiting Late Model Driver Ryan Philpot started sixth and got to second on lap one and held on till Jessica Helberg (#20) made the pass for second place on lap forty-two. Helberg would have the best finish of her BMR teammates on this day with Harraka third, and Moon fourth. Eric Schmidt crossed fifth. Rounding out the top ten were for Race 1:
6th Juan Pitta (#33)
With the invert in race number two of the Twin 50’s, Eric Schmidt started from the pole. This time it was Schmidt’s turn to prove he could lead every lap. And lead he did. At one point he had a half-a-track lead over his nearest competitor Benny Moon. Schmidt eventually crossed first for his tenth win of the season. Moon would go on to finish second, Ryan Philpot was third, and Harraka was fourth. John Moore (#27), back from a hiatus and now driving for Golden State racing, came home fifth.

The RPM Indoor Kart Racing “Hard Charger’ awards go to Juan Pitta (#33) for the first race and John Moore (#27) in the second. The “Hard Charger goes to the driver that increases the most positions from the start to the finish of the race. The Late Models return to AAS for the American Mobile Space 50 on Saturday night, September 22nd! Street Stocks In Qualifying, Doug Wade (#10) set a new AAS track record with a lap of 14.979/ 80.111mph. Josh Whitfield (#00) was second with a 15.036/ 79.808mph. Mickey Owens (#08) was third at 15.124/ 79.343mph. Nitro Norris (#7) was fourth at 15.183/ 79.035mph. The four fast qualifiers met up for the division’s four lap trophy dash with Nitro Norris coming out on top. In Heat Race Number One it was Chris Lambert (#50) over Wade, Ray Mood (#77), Bryon Tommeraason (#80), and David Thompson (#37). In Heat Race Number Two, Mel Wilson (#4) defeated Norris, Chris Paulson (#21), Josh Whitfield, and Casey Cavender (#39). In the A Main, Mel Wilson earned his first victory of the year in this fifty lap feature. Wade had to settle for a second place finish on this night. Whitfield crossed third with Norris fourth and Mood fifth. Rounding out the top ten were:

The Street Stocks come rumbling back to the Speedway Saturday night, September 22nd for fifty laps of action! Bombers Mike Sherrill (#0) was tops on the speed charts once again in Bomber Qualifying with a circuit of 16.066/ 74.691mph. Erick Ray (#01) was second with a lap of 16.219/ 73.987mph, Luke Kaper (#31) was third at 16.228/ 73.946mph, and Mickey Owens (#8) was fourth at 16.275/ 73.732mph. In the four lap trophy dash, it was Erick Ray over Sherrill, Owens, and Kaper. Keith Hopkinson Jr. (#22) won heat race #1 over Kaper, Sherrill, Aaron Gardiner (#51), and Troy Whitlow (#56). Erick Ray won heat race #2 over Owens, Jeff Thomason (#69), Phillip Gibber (#83), and Harry Lambert (#9). Mickey Owens brought home the victory in the fifty lap main event. Kaper crossed second with Todd Clapham (#4) third, Jason Poppert (#87) fourth, and Mike Sherrill Jr. (#00) fifth.
