![]() DILLON, South Carolina -- Celebration and cheer echoed through the grandstands of ASA-sanctioned Dillon Motor Speedway last Saturday evening. With the return of the ASCS Winged Sprint Cars, sponsored by Dillon Provision, fans of all ages made their way to DMS to view the quickest cars to ever soar around Dillon’s racing facility. Along with the Sprint Cars, local race teams from the Palmetto Auto Auction Chargers, Street Stocks, and Four-Cylinder divisions returned ready to compete and provide some of the best entertainment from around the Pee Dee area. As an added bonus of fun for race fans, there were plenty of give-away gifts from race track sponsors thrown from race control to the fans. Also, a fan walk was constructed during the night’s events allowing race fans a chance to walk along the front stretch for a closer view of the Sprint Cars. Dillon Provision Night began with the ASA-sanctioned Dillon Motor Speedway/Dillon County Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting Ceremony with Senators Kent Williams and Dick Elliott, along with Representative Jackie Hayes participating in the ceremony. To commence the evening’s race, Dillon Provision provided all 25 of its employees and families to serve as Grand Marshals to declare that famous phrase, “Gentlemen, start your engines.” The qualifying of the ASCS began the racing night with speed and lap times of approximately 12 seconds. After qualifying, the fierce Four-Cylinder division invaded the track. Daniel Jones was grand winner to receive the checkered flag after a heated competition between some determined racers. Mike Stafford and Anthony Adams raced with many eager attempts to finish in a close second and third place. The sizzling Street Stock division was the next class of cars to take to the track. Following a post-race inspection, Danny Minnehan was declared the big winner of the Dillon Provision Street Stock race. Davie Hatchell raced to a solid finish to end his night in second place. Randy Hall also had a competitive race car finishing in the “top three.” Finally, Dillon Provision Night’s feature race of the ASCS Sprint Cars made their way atop Dillon’s asphalt oval track. Florida’s Kenny Adams in the #4a car scored his sixth overall ASCS win of the year at ASA-sanctioned Dillon Motor Speedway. Current points leader, Brian Smith finished in a close second place just behind Adams. Bryn Gohn in the #4b car, owned by winner Kenny Adams, had a successful night finishing in a solid third place, followed by Tim Perry and Bill Moore, who rounded out the “top five.” Remember to make your plans to attend the ASA-sanctioned Dillon Motor Speedway this Saturday night, September 29th to witness the ASA-Southern Modified Tour in action as they make their first laps around DMS.
