AUSTIN REED IS READY TO ROCK AT THE QUARRY IN CHULA VISTACORR SERIES
Source: DR Racing
![]() Austin Reed, driver of the #14 Ringers Gloves, Approved Memory Trophy Kart is totally pumped and ready to roll in the CORR Series race this weekend at the Rock Quarry in Chula Vista, California. Austin made his premier in the CORR Series two weeks ago at Lancaster where he pulled off an 11th place finish in the main event after starting 22nd. He had some very successful moves during the race that allowed him to advance through the pack while gaining seat time and really getting a sense of the great competition in this series. He commented afterwards “I like racing just about anything, but racing with CORR is really cool as there are so many people in the stands. I also like that the fans can walk all around the pits and check things out.” There will be a lot of racer-to-racer support in Austin’s pit this weekend from local San Diego NASCAR drivers, Ron Esau and Brian Ickler. He said he has been to many of their races and is thinking he might be able to get Brian to spot for him but joked “I’m not sure if my Dad will want to give up that, but it would be cool to have someone like Brian on the radio with me.” With the hard work of the guys at DeJong Off-Road Racing the team has discovered and made some great changes to the truck which should result in handling improvements. They are also looking forward to having Fox Racing Shox on board starting with this race. Dave Reed commented, “We have made the change to Fox as they really seem to have a handle on how these trucks run and have provided us with some great support over the last week.” Austin is racing in the Junior 2 Class with a range of 13 to 17 year old drivers. He will practice and qualify on Friday with event races running on Saturday and Sunday. Championship Off Road Racing™ brings high action, four wheel motorsports including 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive trucks to the closed course off road arena. The 2007 CORR season includes seven events at tracks located in Los Angeles and San Diego, California; Fort Worth/Dallas Texas; and Nevada.
Trophy Karts are smaller versions of the Trophy Trucks and have a Subaru 15 horsepower spec motor. Austin's Kart is prepared by DeJong Off-Road in Temecula, CA and is a teammate to Mitchell DeJong who is first in points for the Junior 1 Class and won his last race at Lancaster. Austin Reed is the son of Dave Reed, former NASCAR championship car owner in the Southwest series.
