LEWIS AND HALEY WIN ON DAY TWO OF FALL CLASSIC

YAKIMA, Washington – Day two of the Fall Classic at Yakima Speedway featured the Hobby Stocks and the Limited Late Models. Aaron Haley won the 60-lap Hobby main with Mel Patnode and Ben St. Mary rounding out the top three. The winning season continued for Gary Lewis. Lewis won the 125-lap Limited Late Model main followed by Jason Fraser and Brandon Riehl.

It was not a cake walk for Lewis as he had to battle traffic and Fraser to win for the ninth time in fifteen starts this season. Lewis exited his car in victory circle shaking his head in disbelief of what keeps happening. “I want to thank my team for the great job they do. Fraser was great to race with. There sure was a lot of traffic, it was nuts out there. We were not even going to run this race saving the car for tomorrows 200.”

Fraser who finished second in last years 125 stated, “The yellows hurt me. My car was much better on the longer runs. That last yellow at lap 116 did not help; I caught him just as the flag flew.”

The 125-lap main was marred by a series of yellows and reds, extending the race to a one-hour forty-three minute duration. Lewis took the lead from Evans on lap 12. Fraser took the lead from Lewis on lap 83 in traffic. Lewis regained the final lead on lap 101.

Aaron Haley won his first ever Hobby Stock main. The 16-year old was absolutely speechless in victory. It was a solid win for the youngster. Mel Patnode put a lot of pressure on, but could not get Haley rattled.

Second day qualifying started the afternoon of racing. Garrett Evans who chose to qualify on day two used a bit of a warmer track to his advantage. Evans took the pole away from Lewis in the Limited Late Model Division and did the same to Kevin Richards in the Late Model Division.

The third day on Sunday, September 30 will feature a 75-Lap Street Stock main and the 20th annual 200-lap ‘Fall Classic”. Front gates open at 11:00am and racing kicks off at 1:00pm.
