WILTON, California − With the top three drivers within 30 points of each other, the SRL Touring Series championship hangs in the balance this Saturday night (October 13th) at Altamont Raceway Park’s half-mile oval. Veteran Dave Byrd of Seaside, CA leads the points with 299 going into the last race of the SRL season. But Modesto’s Steve Belletto (294 points) and Tracy Bolin of Valley Springs (270 points) are running a close 2nd and 3rd. Saturday’s SRL championship race main event will be part of the “Big Dogs Open” show scheduled at Altamont for this weekend.

Not only is the SRL driver points battle a tight one, the rookie of the year points are just as close with the #11 car of Bryan Herzog (Clovis, CA) out in front but only by 12 points over Todd Bammer (Pleasanton, CA) and by 28 points over Aztec, New Mexico’s Porter Smith. Herzog has been consistently strong this season and also earned his first SRL win back in July at Shasta Raceway. .
