TWO POPULAR EVENTS WILL CAP ALTAMONT MOTORSPORTS PARK'S 2007 RACE SEASONTRACY, California--Altamont Motorsports Park (AMP) will usher its 2007 race season to a close with two extremely popular events on the week ends of October 20 and 27. This week end, October 20 and 21, AMP will once again host the "24 Hours of LeMons," a 2-day event that spoofs the prestigious, French "24 Hours of LeMans" with an enduro event for cars "purchased, fixed up, and track-prepped for a total of 500 dollars or less." A DriversDoor, Inc. event spawned from the genius of founder Jay Lamm, "LeMons," was first held in 2006 on the AMP road course that integrates with the famed Altamont 1/2-mile oval. In July 2007, a 24 Hours of LeMons event at Altamont Motorsports Park welcomed more than 90 cars. Pre-registered entries for this week end put the car count into the 90's as well. Racing on Saturday runs from 2:30 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday racing runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Spectator tickets are $12 for each day, or $20 for both Saturday and Sunday. Find more information at www.AltamontRacing.com and www.24hoursoflemons.com.

On Saturday, October 27, Altamont Motorsports Park will end its season with its Pumpkin Smash Euduro and Family Fun Day. A tradition at Altamont, this event has attracted family members across years and generations, and visitors this year will find family-oriented contests, food and fun, as well as the thrill of drivers maneuvering cars through pumpkins on the track in the 300-lap enduro race. The full afternoon of fun will start at noon on October 27, with pumpkin carving contests, kids' and adults' costume contests, and many other fun activities. The Enduro 300 race will start at 4:00 p.m. A new twist to the pumpkin smash this year is splitting the event to run 150 laps on the road course, and 150 laps on the 1/4-mile oval, with a 20 minute break during the course change. "It keeps it interesting, and it adds to the fun," commented Altamont Motorsports Park General Manager Jeff Macey. Many entries in the enduro event are from the West Coast Enduro organization.

Added to the Pumpkin Smash this year, is the participation of the "Get Real Behind the Wheel" organization, whose Tracy chapter will benefit from some food concessions during the event. A new partner of Altamont Motorsports Park in the safe-driving program announced earlier this year, the Get Real Behind the Wheel members will also be assisting with the family activities.

Pumpkin Smash admission tickets are $12 for adults, $9 for seniors (65+): $7 for youth 6-12, and free for children under 6. Family Pack tickets (2 adults + 2 youth) are available for $30. Pit Passes (including General Admission ticket) are $40 each. Find all visitor and competitor information about the Pumpkin Smash at www.AltamontRacing.com/pumpkinsmash.htm.
