The Semi-Pro race looked like it was all Zach Zimmerly passing nearly 80 cars. Zimmerly was disqualified after the heat race for a tech violation, and had to race his way from back of the C-main. He was clearly the class of the field, clawing his way to victories in the C-main then the B-Main before passing every car in the feature in the first 22 laps to take the lead. It looked like there was no way Zimmerly would be denied. But Christian Pahud sat in second in the final ten laps, then with 2 laps to go caution came out for a blown motor in turn 1. Setting up a dramatic 2 lap shootout, on the restart Pahud looked to the inside going into the 1st turn. Zimmerly was able to pull away, then on the final lap into the 1st turn Zimmerly was taken out by Pahud. Backing hard into the 1st turn wall, Zimmerly’s car was totaled, and Pahud was black-flagged and ordered off the track by race officials. The win went to John Stancil.

“I guess the #63 thinks last place is better than 2nd place,” began Zimmerly recapping the race. “We qualified on Pole yesterday, started last in our heat race and won it, then were disqualified for a tech issue, later that night we ran the “Race of Champions” and won it.” “We had to race the alphabet today to make the A-main and then to lead the last 18 laps and get taken out on the white flag lap is disappointing.” ”Donovan and Brian have worked their butts off this summer trying to figure theses cars out and so have I. I thought we’ve done well the last couple of months. We brought our best car, our best motor, our best tires, and did our homework for this race.”

“I really enjoyed racing with everyone else, the #20, #6 and the #77 we had some great racing this weekend and gave each other room and just raced,” explained Zach.
