IRWINDALE, California – Joey Logano took the lead with 87 laps remaining, then survived a series of late-race restarts and finally won the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown at Irwindale Speedway. The race was a special event for drivers in the NASCAR Grand National Division.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the Grand National Division. The tires provided for the Showdown were used frequently during the 2007 season by the teams in the NASCAR West Series and the Busch East Series as well as the teams in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. Drivers from all three series competed in the Showdown.

Logano, a development driver for Joe Gibbs Racing, started second in the 40-car field but did not take the top spot until lap 164 of the 250-lap event.

“I just had a great race tonight," Logano said. "My crew, they picked it up a ton. To be able to run up front all night, this team is unbelievable.”

Peyton Sellers finished second, followed by Mike Duncan, Matt Kobyluck and Eddie MacDonald.

Sellers had chances to challenge Logano late in the going because of three caution periods in the final 18 laps around the half-mile venue. But each time, Logano was able to pull away.

“Our Eagles performed flawlessly tonight, as we expected,” said Goodyear’s Chad Fletcher. “The teams and drivers here this weekend all had experience with this tire combination.”

The tires supplied for the event were Goodyear’s D2263 on the left side and D2265 on the right.

The race was split into three segments. There were planned stops called on laps 100 and 200.

“Our setup was pretty good in the first 100 laps,” Sellers said. “We tried to change a bit in the second 100 laps. We just missed it by a little bit, but we were solid.”

Duncan, a former West Series champion, said the key to his strong finish was, “Just staying smart and staying out of trouble. The tires were good.”

Logano won six times during his first season in Grand National competition, taking wins in both the Busch East and West series. The 17-year-old became the youngest champion in Busch East Series history.

Pole sitter Sean Caisse led the first 74 laps. Duncan led the middle portion of the race and Brian Ickler led nine laps before Logano went in front. The winner averaged 61.150 mph and won $33,284. Caisse averaged 98.517 on his pole-winning lap.
