J.J. DISHNEAU HAS SUCCESSFUL NSCS ROOKIE SEASONNORTHWEST SPRINT CHALLENGE SERIES
Source: Amy Taylor
![]() MAPLE VALLEY, Washington -- As the 2007 race season comes to a close, seventeen year old JJ Dishneau has a lot to be proud of. He’s raced the Northwest Sprint Challenge Series for his first year, finishing second in rookie points and tenth overall out of seventy plus drivers.
JJ’s short career began when in elementary school, he raced a few times in a quarter midgets. The last three years, Dishneau raced with support from his father, Michael Newman, racing 250 mini-sprints a few times but mostly 600s at Deming Speedway. His racing at Deming proved successful with two wins, several top five finishes and a handful of fast times.
In addition to his 10th place with NSCS for his rookie season this year, he has several top ten finishes. JJ was fortunate enough to participate in a race that included NASCAR’s Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne at a NSCS sanctioned event at Grays Harbor Raceway.
When asked whether he’s superstitious, Dishneau remarked, “After this year, yes! I have qualifying shoes and race shoes and on race day, I try to relax, focus on what I’m doing, and make sure I have the right shoes on!”
A senior in high school, JJ has his sights set on NASCAR or IRL, the latter being his favorite. “To race at Indy would be amazing. The technology those cars have is tremendous. But I’m realistic enough to know that not everyone makes it, so I’m just setting goals for myself and planning on going to college.” Dishneau would like to attend Washington State University, the University of Washington or the University of Oregon to major in either Business Administration or Construction Management.
JJ wanted to thank his sponsors, as he knows he couldn’t race without them.
