THE FUTURE OF HARD CORR RACING

TEMECULA, California -- At age 10, Mitchell deJong already holds a valid drivers license, in racing that is! Driver of the #24 Trophy Kart, Mitchell deJong pulled in to his 1st CORR race at the Texas Motor Speedway October 19-20th leading in points for the championship and the battle was on! With just 2 race weekends left in the 2007 CORR season the competition was fierce to say the least!

There was 2 days of racing and qualifying with 4 races altogether scheduled for the Texas venue. Having some horsepower issues with his motor that day Mitchell was able to qualify second fastest time. As the green flag dropped, Mitchell got the whole shot heading in to the first turn when suddenly another truck flipped over landing right on Mitchell's front bumper and taking him out this race. Luckily Mitch was able to make it up in the following race finishing 3rd place.

On the last day of racing Mitchell was hungry for a win! He qualified 2nd again even though his motor was turning low rpm's. At the start, Mitch and his Sheldon (driver of the #2 truck) that was turning 1,000 rpm's higher than him were battling side by side the entire race rubbing and passing each other at every turn. On the last corner, coming up to the checkered flag Mitchell was right on the bumper of the other truck ready for an opportunity to pass when the other truck checked up causing Mitch to go wide to avoid crashing and taking a 2nd place finish.

On the final race of the weekend Mitchell was determined to bring home a 1st place trophy from Texas and that's exactly what he did. Starting in the front row he took off leading the pack of 18 other races and never looked back. He stayed about a 1/4 of track ahead of the rest, even lapping some all the way to the finish winning 1st place which is mitchell's comfort zone! "This was the first CORR race that the kids got to run on the entire track like the big boys and Mitchell loved it. Robby Gordon, veteran racer, met up with the kids after their race! He spent time talking to them, wrestling and signing their trucks which was awesome!

The very next weekend Mitchell also took 1st place at the Apex open held at the Perris raceway where he coincidently just won the 2007 go-karting championship as well in his rotax series.

Only 1 Trophy Kart CORR race left of the 2007 season being held in Primm, Nevada on Nov.3-4th. "Mitchell is fired up and ready for the challenge, I just hope we can give him the equipment he needs to match his talent!" Says Shelley deJong, Mitchell's mom.####
