SMASH MOUTH LEAD SINGER STEVE HARWELL FILES SUPER LATE MODEL ENTRY FOR SATURDAY’S FALL CLASSIC PRESENTED BY BANK OF AMERICA AT THE BULLRING AT LVMSLAS VEGAS – Steve Harwell, lead singer of the pop rock group Smash Mouth, has filed an entry to compete in the 140-lap, $5,000-to-win Super Late Model feature during Saturday’s Fall Classic Presented By Bank Of America at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Harwell is entering the Bullring’s fastest class in arguably the track’s quickest car: Dustin Ash’s 2007 championship-winning Super Late Model. Harwell, who practiced at the Bullring this afternoon, is leasing the car from owner and local racing legend Dick Cobb for the Fall Classic. Not exactly known as a stock car driver, Steve was asked why he decided to attempt to qualify for such a prestigious event.

“Why wouldn’t you,” Steve replied. “I’ve done a little racing here and there, and I’ve done some testing in one of these (Super Late Model). I’m having fun with it. I’m learning, asking questions and taking advice from (NASCAR Nextel Cup Series driver) Kyle (Busch). I’m taking notes and I’ve got the legendary Dick Cobb with me. Chip Foose (car customizing legend) came on board with me and we’re going to decal the car tomorrow.

“I’m just going to take my time, that’s all,” Harwell continued. “I just want to be safe, and finish and not wreck anybody or get wrecked. If I have to get out of somebody’s way, that’s fine.”

Formed in 1994, Smash Mouth is best known for its 1997 breakout hit, “Walkin’ On The Sun,” and 1999’s “All Star.”

The Fall Classic event routinely draws the biggest names in Super Late Model racing in the Southwest and this year’s event is no exception as hometown hero and NASCAR Nextel Cup Series driver Kyle Busch has entered the Bullring’s 2007 grand finale. Racing begins on Friday with qualifying and heat races, as well as the Bomber and IMCA Modified features. For more information, please call (702) 644-4444 or visit www.LVMS.com.
