RACING, TURKEY BOWLING AND A BOWL OF MASHED POTATOES ON TAP AT THE HAVASU 95 SPEEDWAY THIS SATURDAYThe Havasu 95 Speedway, in beautiful Lake Havasu City-Arizona, will present the latest round of their ASA sanctioned 2007-2008 Winter Racing Series this Saturday night November 24th. The most scenic quarter mile asphalt track in the southwest will present a special Thanksgiving weekend filled with hot track action from the JJ&B Late Model, Modified, Street Stock and Factory Powder Puff divisions. They will also be treating their fans to special events such as turkey bowling and a mashed potato eating contest because this race track goes all out to make sure that their fans have a lot of fun.

Highlighting the on track action will be the JJ&B Late Model Racing Series who will treat the fans to a 100 lap feature. The focal point in the Late Model field will be Mark Schriner who leads the series' points standings due to back to back feature wins on September 29th and October 13th. But there's another reason why the competition will be focusing on Schriner. He's one of the few Late Model drivers who drives a Ford and the Chevrolet guys with the bow ties would just love to out run his Ford Fusion.

Going into Saturday night there are only 42 points separating the top five in the standings. Schriner leads the field with 182 points but it's hardly a big lead. Bobby Keirns, who has proven in the past that he can win a race on any given Saturday night, is only 10 markers behind the leader in second. Albert Flores and Kevin James are having their own private battle and are tied for third with 154 points each. Still within striking distance is Rob Munoz who is fifth in the standings with 140 points.

Also making a large presence at the Havasu 95 Speedway Saturday night will be the ground shaking, thunder making, open wheel modifieds. This very popular division will be presenting fans with a 50 lap feature while racing for double points. By the end of the night the double points could become a huge factor in the series' standings because there are only 20 points separating the top five. Jimmy Dickerson, with one feature win this season, leads the standings with 98 points but he's only six points ahead of Danny Gay in second and 12 points ahead of Mike Salm in third. Jason Patison, who's having an incredible year at three different race tracks, is also a feature winner at the Havasu 95 and goes into Saturday night fourth in the rankings with 84 points. Tim Moore completes the top five with 78 points.

The Havasu 95 Speedway has an excellent Street Stock program that features hard racing much to the delight of the fans. Chip Campbell, with one feature win this season, leads the standings with 142 points followed by Jim Carlo in second at 130. Rick Layman, also a feature winner this season, holds down third at 120 while Phillip Waterman and Nathan Hovdal completes the top five with 116 and 114 points respectively.

Also on the Saturday night schedule is the always entertaining Factory Stock Powder Puff division. Don't be misled by the term powder puff. These ladies drive their factory stockers with the same aggressive tenacity as their male counterparts. Two of the drivers to keep an eye on Saturday night will be Stephanie Felish and Lisa Snell who have already won feature races this season.

While the Havasu 95 Speedway staff takes pride in presenting its fans a great racing show, the special events staff also takes pride is presenting them with very innovative and fun events. Saturday night will be no exception. The fans will be invited to participate in turkey bowling located within the speedway's midway. During the intermission the fans will also be invited to enter the mashed potato eating contest which has the potential of being extremely hilarious.

The Havasu 95 Speedway's Thanksgiving weekend officially kicks off this Friday evening with a test and tune session for the race teams, from 6 to 9 pm, which is free to spectators. A pit pass bar b que follows the test session Friday night. On Saturday race day the gates will open to the spectators at 4pm with the racing getting underway at 6 pm. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors 55 plus as well as the handicapped and military fans. Kids tickets, for ages 6 to 16, are $6 while kids five and under are admitted free with the presence of an adult. The speedway also has a VIP Premium Seating area and the $25 ticket includes pizza and drink service. However, this VIP area is very popular with the fans and purchasing these tickets in advance is highly recommended.
