ALTAMONT MOTORSPORTS PARK MEETS WITH COMPETITORS TO MAKE ’08 PLANSTRACY, California -- Altamont Motorsports Park welcomed the competitors of the 2008 racing season for a day of meetings with General Manager Jeff Macey and the Altamont staff to narrow down several proposed changes and announcements.

Saturday’s meetings included small changes to each of the weekly division’s rule books, in an effort to tighten competition and eliminate grey areas. These small changes will be on the track’s website shortly.

Large groups of drivers turned out for meetings for the Formula 4, American Limited Stock Car, Modified, Late Model, and NCMA divisions that make up the weekly program. Each meeting went smoothly with a strong level of cooperation between the teams.

Altamont Motorsports Park’s weekly program will return under the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series banner in 2008, with additional sanctioning as a USAC track for the season.

Altamont will host many USAC events next season, including two two-day events. USAC named Altamont “Event Organizer of the Year” in 2006.

The move towards more open-wheel racing will continue with the addition of the NCMA Altamont Limited Sprints, which will compete on a regular basis. The division also has several new announcements coming soon.

All of the popular races from 2007 will return in 2008, including three SRL Wild West Shootout dates, multiple dates for the Eldorado Westcar Late Model Series, the Big Dog Open Show, Pumpkin Smash Enduro, and 24 Hours of Lemons.

Fans will also be treated to a stunning show in September featuring both USAC and the NASCAR Grand National West Series on the same card.

The 2008 racing season will open up with a new spring open show, similar to the Big Dog.

Many dates for the 2008 season have already been set, with the full racing calendar to be released shortly following the RPM Promoters Workshop in Reno at the end of the month.

The Altamont Motorsports Park is hosting the 2007 season's awards banquet for Altamont weekly series and NASCAR Whelen All-American Series competitors and the Eldorado Westcar Late Model Series on January 5th, 2008 in Reno, NV.####
