ELLENSBURG, California-- Yakima Speedway officials announced today the renewal of the historic Sun City 200. The event will take place on the ½ mile paved oval on August 31, 2008.

The Sun City race was held for many years as a longer distance, higher paying event during the month of August. Over the years, scheduling made holding the event more difficult. In 2008 the tradition will be revived.

The race will be run on Sunday evening of the Labor Day weekend. Rules will be Late Model rules. The 200 lap event will feature a break at the halfway point. The late model event will follow the ASA Northwest Tour championship race that is scheduled for Saturday, August 30.

Track owner, Ted Pollock states, “I am extremely excited about bringing back this race. We hope to once again make this an annual event. Many racers have contacted us about a late model, special event. This will also give the teams a tune up for the Fall Classic set for October 3-4-5”.
