Name Change: First off, the SRL Series will officially drop its former identity of SRL Late Model Wild West Shootout, to be known as the SRL Southwest Tour Series. With the new series sponsor in place, the official title for 2008 will be the “FLASHCO SRL Southwest Tour Series”.

$100,000 Event: What was the most exciting announcement made at the annual awards banquet in December; the FLASHCO SRL Southwest Tour Series will compete for a $100,000 payout at the season ending Lucas Oil October Classic at the new raceway in Bakersfield, CA. $30,000 to win the race, with a special $10,000 bonus award to the top placing SRL Southwest Tour Series competitor who competes in all FLASHCO SRL Southwest Tour Series events in 2008.

Official Vehicles: Pontiac and GMC will become the official car and truck respectively of the FLASHCO SRL Southwest Tour Series. The official pace car of the SRL will be the yet to be released 2008 Pontiac G8.

Schedule of Events: The 2008 FLASHCO SRL Southwest Tour Series will begin March 29th at the historic All-American Speedway in Roseville, CA. The SRL will share the race weekend with the NASCAR Camping World Grand National West Series at All-American Speedway. The series’ next race will take place at what is arguably the finest short-track in America, Irwindale Speedway on April 26th. The SRL will then venture to Altamont Motorsports Park on three occasions, the new Bakersfield track on five occasions, and once to Colorado National Speedway. A race date at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is pending. Three series events will make up the Stock Building Supply Challenge, which will offer a bonus award to the overall top performing driver of the three designated races.

About the Series: Celebrating its eighth season in 2008, the FLASHCO SRL Southwest Tour Series is a regional stock car series competing on paved ovals in the southwestern portion of the U.S. The series utilizes cars based on the former NASCAR Elite Division Series rulebook.
