WILTON, California As the FLASHCO SRL Southwest Tour Series is set to begin its eighth season, a tire test is scheduled to determine what brand of tire will be used by the series in 2008. The tire test scheduled at Irwindale Speedway on Tuesday will host management and engineers from the staffs of both Hoosier Tire and American Racer.

Veteran Southwest Tour drivers M.K. Kanke and Craig Raudman will be the two drivers who will participate in the tire test. Kanke, the winningest driver in NASCAR Southwest Series history will be behind the wheel of his familiar red #33 RPM Motorsports Chevy and Raudman (2001 NASCAR Elite Series champion) will be driving a team car to 2007 SRL series champion Dave Byrd and for new car owner Bob Strandwold of Modesto, CA.

“Tuesday’s test is very important to us as we want to make the best decision we can for our competitors for the upcoming FLASHCO SRL Series” stated series director Steve Fensler. “We greatly appreciate the two race teams for being part of the tire test, and all the fine people from Hoosier and American Racer who are traveling from their headquarters to be at our test on Tuesday” Fensler added.

The 2008 FLASHCO SRL Southwest Tour Series begins at All-American Speedway in Roseville on March 29th, followed by the series first appearance at Irwindale Speedway on April 26th. The series will also make stops at Tucson Raceway Park, Altamont Motorsports Park, Kern County, Colorado National Speedway, and the Las Vegas Bullring. Other Notes of Interest… 2008 Drivers: License Applications for the upcoming FLASHCO SRL Southwest Tour Series are currently being processed. Drivers planning to compete in 2008 include; defending SRL Series champion Dave Byrd, two-time NASCAR Elite Series champion Jim Pettit, 2005 NASCAR Elite Series champ Rip Michels, 2007 SRL Rookie of the Year Bryan Herzog, Troy Ermish, Rick Ruzbarsky, Mike Mendenhall, M.
