42ND ANNUAL APPLE CUP SET FOR APRIL 12TH-13THELLENSBURG, Washington - The weather prediction for the 42nd annual Apple cup is for hot, 75 degree weather. The warm weather will only highlight the super hot action on the track. The season beginning race set for the ASA sanctioned Yakima Speedway, is one of the must see events for racing fans from throughout the Northwest.

The 150-lap event will feature the very best drivers from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Canada. Over 25 cars are expected in the Late Model class alone. Also appearing will be the ultra fast and exciting Northwest Modifieds. Mods from Wenatchee, Spokane and the Boise, Idaho area are entered. The local classes of Super Stocks and Hobby Sportsman and Hobbies will also compete.

Late models drivers entered are Erick Hargraves, Fall Classic winner, BJ Tidrick, ASA Northwest Tour champion, Travis Bennett, winner of the last two Apple Cup races, Mike Longton, with a new car since he recently moved back from the East coast, Owen Riddle, Yakima Speedway 2007 champ, Gary Lewis, LMCS champ, to name just a few.

Also expected are Steve Thompson, Zack Moran, Mike Zamora, Dan Obrist, Mike Obrist, Mark Owens, Rick Suran, Darren Stordahl, Pete Harding, Willy Thom, Christopher Kalch and Ron Bemis and others.

Action will start on Saturday with qualifying, dashes and heat races for all classes. The late Models will have qualifying heat races to determine their starting order for the Columbia Asphalt Apple Cup. Sunday will have huge main events in all classes. The Apple Cup will be 150 laps. A break at or about lap 75 will allow the crews to make adjustments and change two tires. The winner will take home $4000.00.

Gates will open at 11:00 both days with racing at 1:00. The long cold winter and rainy spring will be long forgotten by the furious, hot action this weekend at Yakima Speedway.
