Source: Connor Cantrell Media Relations
![]() 17 year old Connor Cantrell of Valencia, CA scored his first win on the half-mile in the King Taco Super Trucks at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale on April 12th.. Cantrell was the Irwindale NASCAR Super Truck rookie of the year in 2007 and had taken six previous second place finishes, but had yet to post a win in the division. Saturday night's win saw Connor streak across the line 0.449 seconds in front of Joe Hearld of Poway after a hard fought battle in a 40-lap main event plagued with cautions. Connor began his racing career at age 8 at Saugus Speedway in the Los Angeles Kart Club where he won the Jr-1 Championship two years later. From there it was on to the National Circuit in IKF Region-7 and the World Karting Association where he was also very competitive and posted a 4th place National ranking in his final year with the WKA West. In 2005, at 14, Connor became eligible for Legends car racing and quickly showed what he was made of competing against drivers two and three times his age. He set two records that year at Irwindale Speedway as the youngest driver to post a win and the youngest rookie of the year.
Saturday's race was the second of the season for the Super Trucks at the newly renamed Toyota Speedway, and Cantrell now leads the points battle, having placed second in the previous event.
