MOSES SMITH SECOND IN THE NCWS WEST CHASE FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP

ANTELOPE, California – “Second in the chase for the NASCAR Camping World Series West championship is huge,” said Moses Smith, driver of the No. 16 HASA Pool Products/White Flyer/TCI Transportation Toyota Camry for Bill McAnally Racing. “Consistent finishes has won championships in the past. The team is focused on winning the championship one race at a time.”

Smith and the No. 16 HASA team were fifth in the chase after season opener at the short track All American Speedway in Roseville, California. Moses qualified the No. 16 HASA Toyota on the outside of row seven for the Jimmie Johnson Foundation 150 at the one-mile track of Phoenix International Speedway. During the first half of the race, the car became very tight and was hard to handle. However, after a much needed pit stop around lap 90, new right side tires, and minor adjustments made by Crew Chief Duane Knorr enabled Moses to battle to fourth position. After nine caution periods and a red flag period, Smith, whose car was set up for the long runs had to settle for a 7th place finish out of 37 in the final green, white, checkered sprint. It was quite a rush for the over 200 Hasa customers and Moses fans sitting in Turn 2. Their screams of excitement propelled Moses past a fellow racer and into 7th place on the final corner of the race!

“This race was a real team effort. I am proud of all the guys. The pit stops were flawless; Duane made good calls on adjustments, my spotter kept me out of trouble. I am excited to take this momentum to Texas this weekend”, said Moses after the race.

The next race of the season will be at Thunder Hill Raceway in Kyle Texas. Last year, a mechanical problem ended the day early for Smith and the HASA team. Smith is coming to Thunder Hill with Texas sized momentum and looks to close the gap on the season championship leader. The race will be televised live on HDNet beginning at 8 pm CT. Check your local listings. The race at PIR will be broadcast in an enhanced replay on SPEED Channel April 23 at noon ET.
