HORNADAY COMES HOME TO THE SOUL OF NASCAR

It all started with a brief e-mail to Lindy Hornaday back in November of 2007. Ron was about to win yet another NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship and it seemed as though the word of Dale Earnhardt's phone call to Ron after dominating the Tucson Raceway Park Winter Heat series was just yesterday.

As it goes, I raced against Ron's dad, Ron Sr., and Ron's Father in Law, “Wild Bill” Foster, back in the early seventies at Southern California's famed Saugus Speedway. I was a twenty year old kid with the need for speed and Ron was just fourteen and not yet getting behind the wheel of a stock car. We would take different paths but the Saugus Speedway bond and Tucson Raceway Park would have us circling the same oval once again. Many of the crop of current major league racing stars often forget where they honed their skills or got that break, Not Ron ! The 3 time Craftman Truck Series Champion stated he is "very grateful to the Winter Heat Series and what it did for his career" and he would be glad to come back to Tucson Raceway Park where it all began. It didn’t take long for us to pick a date that would work and get the blessing of Kevin and DeLana Harvick, his bosses, whom continue to give back to the Bakersfield community and their NASCAR "Home Track"

The date is set! Mark you calendars for May 2nd and 3rd Ron will be racing the RTI/ Donor Network of AZ sponsored Desert Mountain Medical Motorsports Chevy Monte Carlo that won Tucson Raceway Parks NASCAR Whelen All-American Series season opener back on February 23rd at the hands of 2007 ASA Late Model Series Champion Trent Snyder. Ron’s plans include a Friday Night Test n Tune that is open to the public followed by a Saturday afternoon Meet and Greet and Saturday Nights 75 laps of NASCAR Late Model action at Tucson Raceway Park. Our NASCAR” Home Track” where racers are made and Legends are Born.

Super Late Model, Late Model and Tour Car racers whom want a chance to beat a Legend, check out our competition rules at www.tucsonracewaypark.com No telling who else might just show up!####
