AURORA, Oregon -- Jim Warn enters the Allstate Texas Thunder "150" at Thunder Hill Raceway in Kyle, TX this Saturday night with a little something to prove after his disappointing finish at Phoenix last Thursday. Warn is tied for the Sunoco rookie point lead but hopes to leave Texas on top.

Every race is a challenge for a rookie driver and heading all the way to Texas and visiting a track he has never seen may be a big obstacle but MJ2 Racing driver Jim Warn is up to the challenge and excited about the race at Thunder Hill Raceway. "In some ways being a rookie is not as bad as people make it out to be," Warn said. "Everything we are doing this year is new not only to me but my team. So we really prepare the same way for each race. Chuck Carruthers (team manager) sets the car up so I can drive it and the cars have been perfect. By doing everything the same way each time then it really isn't all that new."

What will be new is the track. "I just have to focus on giving good feedback to Chuck and the team during practice and hopefully I get comfortable with how the car takes to the track," Warn continued.

"Thunder Hill is a lot like South Sound Speedway (both 3/8-mile banked paved ovals) where I started racing stock cars," Warn stated. "So in some ways it will be like home so I am really excited about the race and putting our MJ2 Racing Chevrolet back into the top ten in the point standings. I am focused on qualifying well and racing racing in the top ten."

Over the weekend, Warn talked with Brandon Riehl, who competed in the NCWS event at Thunder Hill Raceway last season. "Brandon gave me a lot of good input about how to get around the track and what to watch out for," Warn said. "Every little bit of knowledge helps and I think I have a good idea of wht it is going to take."

After running near the top all race, Warn was involved in a late race incident at Phoenix last week relegating him to a 25th place finish and providing him a little extra motivation for Thunder Hill. "We have really put Phoenix behind us," Warn said. "We have come a long way in a short period of time and our cars have been flawless. I am gaining confidence with each lap and can't wait to get to Thunder Hill."

Both Carruthers and teammate Jeff Jefferson like how the rookie driver has progressed. "He has really answered all the pre-season questions. He can wheel the car and hold his own," Jefferson stated. "I have been impressed how he handles the traffic and his poise in tight situations," Carruthers echoed.

As a rookie, every race is an audition and a test and thus far Warn has proven o be up to the challenge. "My goals this season are to complete all the laps possible and win the Sunoco rookie title," Warn stated.

Warn drives a team car to Jeff Jefferson and is sponsored by MJ2 Racing, Gran Prix Imports, and Leupold Optic. The car is powered by a Chevrolet NASCAR Spec Engine and sits atop a Hopkins chassis. Warn is in his rookie campaign on the NCWS and has two starts with one top ten finish. Warn is currently in a three-way tie for first place in the Sunoco Rookie-of-the-Year standings.

The Allstate Texas Thunder "150" at Thunder Hill Raceway is round three of the 13-race NASCAR Camping World Series-West schedule for 2008. The race will be televised live on HDNet with the green flag slated for 8:15 pm (CT). This event marks the third straight year the NCWS has visited Thunder Hill Raceway. 2008 is the 55th year of competition for the NASCAR Camping World Series-West.
