BYRD TO TAKE FIRST RUN AT SPEEDWAY AT IRWINDALE

Even with a racing career that includes running on race tracks from Washington State to Arizona, including Ascot Park in Los Angelos and winning a championship in neighboring Bakersfield California, at the former Mesa Marin Speedway. It's hard to believe Dave Byrd has never even seen the Speedway at Irwindale.

This weekend all that will change as Dave and his Bob Strandwold owned Racing Team readies for their first ever trip to the newly renamed 'Toyota Speedway at Irwindale' in Southern California for the 'Anderson Windows & Doors 100'.

Visiting a new track can be a challenge, but Dave likes what he has heard about the Speedway at Irwindale. 'From everything I have heard it is a fun track to race.', Dave said. 'I've been told the fans down there are some of the best and we cannot wait to meet them and put on a good show.' The Speedway at Irwindale is a 1/2 mile progressive banked paved oval. On top of the challenge of a new venue, Bob Strandwold Racing debuts a new car this weekend for Dave. 'We won the championship last year with just one car and it is an older car at that.', explained car owner Bob Strandwold. 'With these fast 1/2 mile tracks added to the schedule this year, we've built Dave a brand new Chevrolet Monte Carlo with a Victory Circle chassis and a new Freight Train Peters Racing Engine.' Dave will rely on the team's collective wisdom and the guidance of crew chief Jeff Strandwold to get the setup right. 'Bob and Jeff have won a lot of races over the years and this team understands short-track racing as good as anyone out there,' Dave stated. 'Even though I've never seen The Speedway at Irwindale, we have a pretty good idea of what will work and I've got a team mate that is a master of these big, fast, 1/2 mile tracks.' Dave drives a team car to anouther Former Southwest Tour Champion Craig Raudman. The Anderson Windows and Doors 100 at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale is round two of the 12-race Flashco SRL Southwest Tour schedule for 2008.
