CLINE WINS LIMITED LATE MODEL RACE AT SOUTH SOUND SPEEDWAYSOUTH SOUND SPEEDWAY

Quality Car Care has come up with a new award at each race for the Limited Late Model drivers. It’s called the Clean Car Care Award. $50.00 will be awarded to the cleanest car finishing the main event. The first Clean Car Care Award winner was #14 Billy Weber. The Quality Car Care Limited Late Models saw Centralia, Washington’s #11 JJ Hamilton set fast time for the second race in a row with a 13.838. Spanaway, Washington’s #25 Dave Cline, driving the Image Auto Body Chevy Monte Carlo brought the field around to the green flag start and jumped into the early lead. The #38 Chad Hinkle closed in on Cline throughout the race, but could never make the pass for the lead. Cline went on to win race #2 for the Limited Late Models leading all 50 laps in their Main Event. Rounding out their top five were runner up Hinkle, Steven Roberts, Hamilton, and Devin Eierman. The Delta Camshaft Mini Stocks saw Tacoma, Washington’s #14 Reggie Gill set fast time for the second race in a row with a 16.732. The top three in their A Heat were winner Gill, Devin Matthews, and Freeman Pruitt. The top three in their B Heat were winner Bill Hayes, Floyd Hayne, and Doug McPeake, JR. The #17 Hayes brought the field around to the green for the Mini Stock 25-Lap Main Event and led the first lap until the #56 Doug Shaffer, driving the green and black AMC Pacer took over the lead. Shaffer led until lap 16 when Gill, driving the Applebee’s/Having Fun Stitching Ford Mustang took over the lead and never looked back winning his third straight Main Event at the West Coast’s fastest 3/8’s mile paved oval. Rounding out their top five were runner up Shaffer, McPeake, JR, Tabby Bracale, and Pruitt. The Vintage Modifieds saw the #75 Bob Fulmer set fast time with a 15.334. The top three in their A Heat were winner Kiel Hobbs, Mike Clother, and Dave Trapp. The top three in their B Heat were winner Bobby Wheeler, John Mustered, and Chuck Peterson. The #28 Chuck Peterson brought the field around for the start of the race and led until lap 10. On lap 11, the #51 Trapp took his turn at the front until he was passed on lap 23 by the #23 Jeff Peterson. Peterson led the next 4 laps until he lost a radiator hose and had to head to the pits. That is when the #75 Fulmer inherited the lead and went on to win the Vintage Modifieds 30-Lap Main Event. Rounding out their top five were runner up Mustered, Eric McLain, Ike Hoskinson, and Clother. The Hinkle Homes Pure Stocks saw Longview, Washington’s #15 Scott Johnson set fast time with a 16.725. The top three in their Heat race were winner #24 Dan Walker, Leon Collins and Johnson. The #75 John Nelson led the field around to the green flag, but it was the #96 Matt Duffey leading the first five laps until Yelm, Washington’s #4 Leon Collins, driving the Collins Moving Services, Inc. Chevy Camaro made a pass for the lead and went on to win his first Pure Stock 20-Lap Main Event. Rounding out their top five were runner up Walker, Brian Wilson, Johnson, and Scott Zahn. The Northwest Baby Grands saw Edgewood, Washington’s #22 Cody Stewart set fast time with a 15.367. The top three in their Heat race were winner Mark Boles, Stewart, and Michael Millar-Perales. The #7 Jay Hamilton brought the field around for the start and led the first 23 laps until Stewart, driving the K & D Auto Ford Fusion made a pass for the lead and went on to win the Baby Grand 25-Lap Main Event. Rounding out their top five were runner up Hamilton, Kayla Roberts, Brian Balmelli, and Millar-Perales. The AMRS Mini Cup Future Stars saw Tacoma, Washington’s #03 Seth Cooper set fast time with a 17.441. The finishing order in their Heat race was winner Tyler Shipman, Cooper, and Dustin Torrey. The #15 Shipman led the first three laps until Cooper passed him for the lead. Cooper went on to win the 8-Lap Mini Cup Future Stars Main Event. Rounding out their finishing order was runner up Shipman and Torrey. There will be an open practice on Thursday, May 1, and Friday, May 2 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. for the season opener for the Super Stocks and the first Super Stock 125-Lap Big 4 Series race on May 3. The Pit gate will open at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 3, 2008 for Super Stock pre race inspection. Upcoming racing at South Sound Speedway: Saturday, May 3, 2008 features the Super Stock 125 Big 4 Series, WMRA, Super 4’s, Baby Grands, and Bumblebees. Then on Saturday, May 10, 2008, the Limited Late Model, NWOSS, Pro 4 Trucks, and NW Legends will compete. Back gate opens at 1:00 PM; front gate opens at 4:45 PM with qualifying starting at 5:00 PM, and racing at 6:30 PM. South Sound Speedway Race Results -- 04/26/2008
