CHICO, California -- So far this early season Chico’s Brett Miller has shown the ability to pass cars and he was on the charge once again this past Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway by carving his way to seventh after starting in the 14th position. The fifth Feather Falls Casino point race at the Chico track was sponsored by Ashley Furniture and it featured a stacked field of 31 sprint cars, which saw a handful of Golden State Challenge Series regulars on hand.

In qualifying Miller cut a smooth first lap, but a slight bobble on the second one put the Care Free Pools, Platinum Powder Coating Maxim 21st quickest. The 18 year-old driver started from the pole in his heat race and fell into line second, before getting passed by former GSC and Silver Dollar Speedway champs Tim Kaeding and Jonathan Allard. Miller remained composed though and drove the final few laps solidly in fourth to transfer into the main event.

The 25 lap feature saw the “Catfish” line-up outside the seventh row and he was on the march right from the get go. He immediately blew by several cars and spent much of the race trying hard to get by Mason Moore for sixth. Miller stayed close to Moore but couldn’t get by and crossed the line in seventh to score his third seventh place finish in the Feather Falls Casino point season.

Following Chico the Care Free Pools Racing team made its way to the American Valley Speedway in Quincy on Saturday to compete with the Golden State Challenge Series. During hot laps Miller was one of the faster cars as the JP’s Paint & Body, Al’s Concrete No. 1x was blazing around the long 3/8 mile oval. In qualifying however, a bobble in turn two slowed his first lap and he couldn’t recover on the momentum based track and ended the session 17th quickest.

Miller then started from the front row in his heat race and blasted out into the lead at the waving of starter Willie Williams’ green flag. The youngster proceeded to dominate the heat and easily win the 10 lap contest by about a straightaway. With the short car count everyone made the main event however, and Miller started in the ninth row. A couple cars got sideways near the middle of the pack on the start and the No. 1x machine was a victim of a chain reaction and it ended with Miller flipping into the infield to put an end to the night.

This coming Friday will find Miller and Care Free Pools Racing in competition at the Silver Dollar Speedway. The 18 year-old has the speed and has shown the ability to get good finishes, but bad luck continues to find him on the track. This has all just made him and the team more determined and has shown the true grit and perseverance of everyone involved with the car. Miller sits seventh in the standings going into the night and will look to make up ground this weekend.####
