MINEGAR CAPTURES ELUSIVE WIN

TWIN FALLS, Idaho – David Minegar was the big winner in the Falls Brand 100 Rocky Mountain Challenge Series race last Saturday night at Magic Valley Speedway after taking over the lead with 15 laps remaining in the event.

Thane Alderman from Las Vegas, Nevada, held the lead laps nine through 85 until Minegar was able to take over. Minegar has had issues in the past trying to get the one-third mile track in Twin Falls to play into his hands for a main event win - but was able to have things fall into place for a trip to the winner’s circle this time out.

TJ Woodhall, making his debut in the RMCS, finished sixth.

“It was probably the most fun I’ve ever had in a race,” Woodhall said. “To come out there with a Premier car and compete with all the guys – I think we did pretty well.”

Hometown track drivers John Newhouse pulled in a third place finish while Steve Jones and Dan Koyle placed fourth and ninth respectively.

Bobby Latham III finished twelfth after having to exit to the pits with a flat tire – but had been running as high as second before the incident.

Intermountain Pro Trucks Kenny Vanderham found himself in Victory Lane for the second time this season after battling once again with Beau Newhouse for the lead. Newhouse had things all set until Vanderham was able to get by him with just six laps remaining in the main-event race. Lou Andersen was also able to get by the driver of the No. 22 truck for a second place finish.

Budweiser Super Stocks Jonathon Gomez captured another win after race leader Jerry McKean tangled with nephew Kris McKean – sending them both to the back of the field for the restart. Gomez was then able to take over for his second victory of the season.

Brent Abbott was able to just barely beat out a hard charging Josh Pitz who was applying the pressure the final five laps of the main event race. Both drivers had made their way through the field from their starting positions at the rear of the pack - but Abbott encouraged just enough out of his ride to finish 0.217 seconds ahead of Pitz. It was Abbott’s second main event win of the season.

Jr. Stingers

Steve Edens was pronounced the winner of the main event after Lane Albright spun out a competitor during the race. Edens rounded up his first main event win of the season.
