THE JELLY BELLY TEAM CLOSES THE POINTS GAP IN IOWA

It was a big weekend at Iowa Speedway for the #1 Jelly Belly team of Jim Inglebright. Inglebright placed 9th overall in the race along with taking home a win for being the highest finishing car in the West. “We had been struggling in our first practice with some mechanical problems. Once we worked that out, I was able to focus on fine tuning the car” stated Inglebright.

Qualifying, Jim ran a 23.923 lap placing him in the fifth row outside. From the very beginning of the race, the car struggled with being tight. After an unscheduled pit stop, the car ran better with fresher tires & more fuel.

“Though we lost some positions on our pit stop, we had no choice but to pit” said the crew chief, Rodney Haygood. “Sometimes situations take you out of your pit sequence & you just have to deal with it.”

With 10 laps remaining, Jim made the additional passes he needed to take the West Series race lead. “I needed a good run here. All the guys worked really hard to put this program together for this weekend. I really liked the race track and it seemed to agree with us.” The Jelly Belly Team jumped up 8 spots in the point standings going from 14th to 6th, 103 points out of first.

The NASCAR Camping World Series will travel to Colorado National Speedway next on June 7th.
