KOBYLUCK PRIMED FOR SOUTH BOSTON, WATKINS GLEN

The NASCAR Camping World Series East momentum builds as it rolls into South Boston Speedway Saturday, May 31. The classic .400-mile oval drew raves from the drivers and teams in 2007. The series was quickly accepted by the knowledgeable and enthusiastic south central Virginia fans.

The inaugural South Boston appearance for the series saw a classic battle between Connecticut’s Matt Kobyluck and Peyton Sellers of nearby Danville, Va. Sellers won the pole and the two traded the lead 11 times before Kobyluck emerged with the win.

Kobyluck will bring the same No. 40 Mohegan Sun Resort Chevrolet with which he won.

“Peyton and I had a great race together, swapping the lead back and fourth. We’re going to bring the same car and the same set-up, so hopefully we can get the same results,” Kobyluck said.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back to South Boston. It’s a fun track to run.

Sellers, meanwhile, will have a completely different setup. He competed last year in an independent, family-operated team. Sellers arrives this year with a major-league, two-car team operated by four-time series champion Andy Santerre. He also has a young teammate in Austin Dillon (No. 3 Garage Equipment Supply Chevrolet), who just happens to be leading the points after two races.

“Austin is definitely a great talent,” Sellers said. “He’s been fast every place we’ve been, so I hope we have a good dual between us.”

The two have each won a Coors Light Pole Award.

“Peyton is the King of South Boston,” Dillon said, “so he’s going to be tough for anyone to beat. At the same time, I can go to him any time I need him and its good having him there.”

“It feels good to be heading home.” Sellers said. “We travel a lot in 13 races, and I’m just really fortunate we get to go to my home track to race.”####
